I can vouch for why the Kingda Ka over the shoulder straps are stinky.... because we never cleaned them one bit!! At least the years I worked the ride in 2015, and I'd imagine the same holds true today. @@williamshort3620 Opening day was a rare win for us, when the queue disintegrated as the shutters came up at the main entrance we gambled on a closed turnstile, it opened, they opened it for 15 seconds before somebody said "close it for the countdown", but we were through by then, my kids legged it and got on in about 20 minutes, I walked the queue, which ended at Pizza Pasta and ended up talking to management staff who had earlier in the week tried to guess where the queue would end, most went for Curse and were very wrong!

There is a specific reason for the (seemingly) excessive trims on Th13teen: as it was the first prototype drop track coaster, the brakes that stop the entire assembly in the drop track section were not strong enough to safely stop big heavy trains (due to limitations of the brand new technology at the time). So Intamin had to design super lightweight trains. This led to a problem because a fully loaded train would have gone significantly faster than an unloaded train, and consequently applied more forces on the riders. The restraints were not designed for any negative Gs on the rider at all, so the trims had to be installed to prevent heavy trains from overspeeding and exerting too much force on the riders.

Some trivia about the "Spinball Whizzer" ride that might explain the lack of theming: it was formerly named "Sonic Spinball" and themed after the Sonic the Hedgehog games. In 2015 that sponsorship ended and they had to strip all that out, leaving it a bit bare.

From what I’ve seen it looks like the regular version is just pinball machine themed both before and after the Sonic theme. 👌
