Call it the URS, Urban RS, can adding another letter be classed as it being different? For the badges just make a big U and put the letters RS inside the U. Or can you get away with R-S or R/S.

Surely they can't sue for an abbreviation!? The urban RS may mean something other than Rallye sport. That would then be for the other car makers to prove?

Renault, Porsche, Chevrolet, Audi and Ford have all used RS in the car names. Might be worth looking in to how they all could without being sued. Keep it simple and if you can call it the RS+ edition that way you can keep the RS with the tooling you’ve already made.
@keithmason55842 жыл бұрын
Try something like ABT where they used RS-R preventing VW group getting to them , so why don’t you use U-RS or RS-U I think a few have suggested the same
@operatorone87642 жыл бұрын
They don't own RS, but the way more than one manufacturer has got away with using it, is using RS as an abbreviation and having the RS stand FOR something. Audi - RennSport (means racing sport in German) hence porsche, Audi etc Ford - RallyeSports Renault - RenaultSport Skoda - RallySport - VRS (Victory Rally Sport) It would appear (get advice) that if you call RS RealitySport or something of that nature, you would then be able to abbreviate it. I hope this is helpful! 😎

The way it sounds is that each company the “RS” stands for something, Eg. Ford “Rally sport”, Audi is “RacingSport” & Renault is “Renault sport” so if you came up with a meaning behind the RS name you could use it? Like Urban “Rugged sport” or something 🤔

Ford made me remove their logo's from my website and Ken Block managements made remove a wrap from a car, I can't see how the letter's RS can be owned by a manufacturer, I'd run with it personally... Great marketing.
@hs36552 жыл бұрын
Without knowing any details of the case (obviously), it pretty much sounds as if you received a cease and desist letter due to an (alleged) trademark infringement (my guess at least, because there is no other legal way to protect these two letters). In that case, it really depends on the details of the trademarks at hand wheter or not they have a legitimate claim but fighting three battles at the same time…💸
@stevee89202 жыл бұрын
More than 1 company can use the words RS (Device) as long as they have registered it through the correct channels. It’s also important that you state what RS stands for, so for example Ford RS is RallySport, if this doesn’t conflict with RS from say another leading brand then both those companies can use it. Or you get a licence from one of those said companies to grant you use of the lettering. Colouring will also play a part so Ford is blue. Audi is Red and so on. You can apply to register Urban RS as being different to other manufacturers it will be used on a vehicle that is not in direct competition with its rival, I:E a utility vehicle rather than an SUV. The problem arises now, because it’s retrospective, which those brands especially because of colouring could say is giving you an advantage due to a global market recognised name, which they could suggest you wouldn’t have been able to sell had you used different lettering, so in essence you have piggybacked on the back of their brand to give them an advantage. Whatever name you choose, go through companies house to register the trademark as intellectual property, a trademark firm can do all this work for you. I suggest ceasing using the wording immediately as this could still give them rise to continue to sue, regardless of whether you change branding. I would also suggest registering Urban automotive as well asap, preventing others from piggybacking off your brand. Then using letters after the word Urban Automotive if always used in full distinguishes the brand from others and allows you to say what you wish as long as Urban Automotive is always in front. Hope that helps

What is the definition/meaning of Urban's RS? Yes agree many car companies use RS but if you look more carefully, their use has a different meaning. This could be the way to get out of it....I would get some brief so cheap legal advice due to Urban's investment before deciding on way forward. Yes lawyers cost money but rather than pay for new tooling this could work out cheaper. Btw the way a few of Urban's competitors use RS. Kahn has RS range of alloy wheels. Lumma has a kit called CLR RS. I'm sure there will be many more.... Renault Megan/Clive RS (RENULT SPORT) Ford Focus RS/Cosworth RS (RALLYE SPORT) Audi RS (RACING SPORT) Porche RS (RENN SPORT = RACING SPORT)

Speak to your legal people. Because I can't see how they can expect you to change it and claim it as theirs when you have 2 others claiming it's theirs also. I think all 3 need to be made aware that there is 2 others claiming its their trademark and then they all may drop it as that would be extremely costly when you have one company fighting 2 others (excluding yourselves).

Porsche RS is abreviation of Rennsport, Ford is Rallye Sport, Renault is Renault Sport, Audi is Racing sport.... So Rally Spec/Raid Spec, or both RRS would be availible to use if you wanted to wind them up and them have no come back. You cannot copyright 2 letters that are next to one and another in the english alphabet but you can copywrite the non abreviation of RS and would probably solve this issue. Scare tactics by big corp.

Urban need to be ‘unique’ just like their designs! Your styling packages could be either short, medium or full styling packages, so why not introduce three levels of specification so as to reduce production complexity? I’m thinking along the fact that most of your vehicle conversions are Land Rover Products. Land Rover like to use the catchy slogan “Above and Beyond” which best describes Land Rovers go anywhere capability. How does “Urban Summit Series” sound?….‘Urban’s Aspirations to Reach the Top’!…..’The Ultimate Defender and Pinnacle’ of Urban Automotive Design! Three Defender derivatives…… Urban Summit Series 1 “Pinnacle” Urban Summit Series 2 “Nevis” Urban Summit Series 3 “Scafell” All titles reference the best of British peaks and mountains and the highest pinnacle of success which is synonymous with the Urban Brand.😉👊🏻
