The WRC was pushed heavily on Speedvision in the late 90s and early 2000's, but the audience, while passionate, was small. But if Speedvision hadn't pushed it, we may never have gotten the WRX or the Evo.

Travis Pastrana, who was already driving for Subaru, came to Mexico years ago to witness his first WRC event. We sat down to talk after the first day and he couldn’t believe what was going on. He stuttered and smiled and just kept saying “this is the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen “. It is. Speaking as a rally driver and as part of this world I salute and pray for the US to join this amazing family.

I’m from Croatia,we were lucky to host wrc for the third time this year. It is fantastic to see this cars flying through narrow roads,with spectators near road. WRC needs to be in USA 100%.

There is an fall ARA event in the UP of Michigan around the Marquette area. I tried to get people interested in bringing it to Northern Wi near Lake Superior clear back in 1989. Every business thought it was a good idea, but no one wanted to put in the effort. Not sure if these days the National Forrest, the state DNR and enviromental groups would sign off on it. There are small stock car racing tracks in northern Wi and Mn but they are on private land and have been around for almost 60 years.

​@@57WillysCJit would be tough because Minnesota wisconsin and Michigan have some of the only untouched forests near and around those areas so the DNR doesn't want you know this many people coming up and then going and trashing nearby areas

If youre a Motorsport enthusiast, you need to see WRC atleast once in your life. Honestly, it will blow your mind. As a someone from Finland, i've seen many rally events including the legendary Finnish WRC in Jyväskylä. Ouninpohja with the yellow houses jumps is truly one of the most amazing things i've ever experienced.

Thanks to Ken Block’s passion for rally racing, I got into following ARA. But it’s lack of coverage made it challenging. I’ve been actively following WRC and ERC for almost a year now and knowing the infrastructure and support that is needed to run a world class rally event makes this look very daunting. WRC and FIA know that they have to be here to build their fan base. It’s going to be interesting to see how this comes to fruition.

If you're in the US and you think you'll like rally, find an event near you on the ARA or NASA calendar and volunteer for it. Events are always in need of help from course marshals and time control people all the way to ham radio operators and first responders. Time controls are probably the best way to talk to teams directly. As a time control worker, even the top level drivers and codrivers need to go through YOU to get their time cards filled out! And you can potentially save a life if someone forgets to hook up their safety devices before dropping the clutch.

I lived in Cleveland Tennessee in 2005 and saw a half dozen full livery EVO 5s and 6s filling up at a gas station and it was those events he mentioned. We camped out in Polk county and watched the rally. It was an amazing experience. I still live in the area and would love to see this happen!

I used to follow the WRC back in the days on SpeedTV, along with F1. If F1 can gain so much traction in the US, i don't see why the WRC won't be able to follow suit. It just needs the right exposure and marketing.

as a native of Tennessee and someone who has fell head over heels with the wild world of rally racing, I pray it sticks. Tennessee could use the boost in sales as well as show off the vast diverse landscape that is our beautful state. I would absolutely go nuts to see a toyota GR Yaris rally car zooming down the tight and techinall gravel trails of eastern Tennessee at full bore. a bunch of amazing hunting preserves that almost lay abandoned throughout Tennessee and miles and miles of gravel road sets up a wonderfull idea for different stages along the way.

I get to drive on (former) WRC stage roads every day in the USA. The world of media is in a far different place than when WRC Olympus Rally last raced here (near Tacoma, WA) in 1988. Best of luck! Love your passion for rally.

Part of the issue with bringing the WRC to the US from an OEM’s perspective is they use WRC to get brand recognition and thus sell more cars and many of those cars aren’t even sold as normal models here in the states. Imagine if we got the i20 N here or the Puma.

The blue ridge parkway and skyline drive between NC and VA would be perfect. The parkway is now paved, but there are sections of the old parkway that runs along beside it that are not paved. Would love to see this come to our area

I remember WRC being here in Washington when I was a kid. Been attending rallies my whole life. Olympus Rally and Oregon Trail Rally were great this year. Definitely will travel to Tennessee for WRC! I really think that my area is well-suited to rally racing. I live in NY State between Buffalo and Rochester and we have plenty of scenic backroads ranging from rolling hills, to woodlands, to marshes. Plus, we have Letchworth State Park which conveinently has a curvy, tight road all the way down the west side of the park I think would be great for rally stages.

Chattanooga is in a nice central location. It's half way between Atlanta and Nashville, and within a 12 hour drive of a lot of other Eastern cities, like Chicago, New York, and Miami.

I highly recommend watching Easier Said Than Done. It's a documentary on an American rally team competing in the WRC. It's from 2013, but still worth it. I hope they get better funding than these guys had, because it seemed to be a struggle all the way.

A friend actually put forth a development plan while in University to use old logging access roads. Around our area most are in pretty good shape and are solid enough but the state wouldn't move forward, I think it was legal responsibility that they said was why.

Many of the ARA events take place on logging roads, or on state forest land. Some municipalities see the benefit in it and sadly some don't. Next month in Maine/New Hampshire is New England Forest Rally, an ARA national event that is all on old and some still active logging roads. Get up there if you can, it's a blast to watch.

In the 80s I believe, a couple British friends and I attended some WRC(?) rally events in the states of Washington and Oregon. If I remember correctly, many of the stages were on logging roads, but some times portions of the stages were in nearby towns. One stage came down a wide roadway (newly blacked toped, with no markings) that turned left 90 degrees, then right 90 degrees and the cars braked near my friends and I, for the left turn. The residents were amazed, than frightened when a white 380Z, engulfed in tire smoke (brakes) came by mere feet from us, that's when we backed up (also suggested by a female Police officer). ;-)

ARA produces some amazing rally in the states. Just went to my first rally a few weeks ago at the Oregon Trail Rally, and it is AWESOME. Can't wait for WRC to come to the states! I think rally is slowly gaining popularity in the US thanks to Hoonigan, Travis Pastrana, Brandon Semenuk, and people who got into F1, who otherwise weren't into motorsports before, branching out into other disciplines.

best thing you can do with your kids. still remembering the first time my dad took me to the semperit rally in austria back in 1985. i remember it like it was last week. sitting on my dads shoulders and hearing the cars before you can see them. getting louder and louder. i was to young back then to understand anything about it. but i still can feel that excitement my dad and all around us had. especially that one really LOUD white/yellow car that shot flames - today i know was the audi s1. i'm thankful for that memory with my dad and i believe your kids will be too in the future.
