Here’s a thought… this is what my hubby and I did a few years ago… we went alone and had the ceremony. We filmed it for our parents to watch later. I had a simple white dress and we had a beautiful setting in the mountains by the water under a gazebo with twinkle lights. We enjoyed our time there and then we had a celebration party a couple weeks after we got back. It was low key and so much less stressful. The preacher helped us take some photos that turned out great. Still so glad we did it that way. It was special just between us and way cheaper ha

My daughter and son in love did something very similar. They got married in Grenada and we watched the ceremony. It’s what they wanted and they just celebrated their 1 year anniversary ❤

So refreshing to have a couple who does make a big thing about their engagement on social media. You are right, some special moments in life (engagements, weddings, giving birth…) should be keep private and just memories for you. Personally I had a very very small wedding with just 15 people. It was so sweet and my husband and I are still happily married after 16 years.

Congratulations! We had a small wedding at Hotel DeLuxe in downtown Portland. It was beautiful and low budget - but we had to work hard to make it that way! I've had friends who had private ceremonies on the coast or in nature then have a backyard party a few months later and show pics. Low stress but a fun way to let others celebrate with you! Old school style is champagne and cake. That's it! Relatively cheap and so fun!

My husband and I were together almost 6 years when we got married. It was a justice of the peace and witnesses on New Years Eve. The whole world celebrates our anniversary.
