Just became a member so i can watch this. People hate on Korra but keep in mind that shes a teenager who grew up isolated. Characters need to have flaws so they can mature :)

People are really surprised that a teenager acts like a teenager when they were raised as a child prodigy who's meant to save the world
@Imadigga3 сағат бұрын
She’s still acting like a 12 year old and it really pisses me off sometimes at the start like bro you were there for two days and had a little temper tantrum that destroyed A 2000! YEAR OLD ARTEFACT DOES SHE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT SHE JUST FUCKING DID like my god I get she’s a teenager but that doesn’t excuse her acting 4 years younger like a child that’s just pathetic not to mention she still could be taught by her parents she lived with her parents still did they just ignore her for the entire training and more on how it took two days to go baby mode even though her entire life so far was dedicated to training but now she thinks she can ace it in two days
@kmjkmjkmj3 сағат бұрын
@Imadigga You apparently never met a 16 year old since you think they act protectively around artifacts. She acts like any sheltered sport prodigy I ever met. Advanced in the field she trained in and lacking in other ways because she wasn't raised around other "normal" kids but is convinced she knows it all because she never experienced setbacks.

I think the korra hate has cooled over time but people still remember it heavily. A lot of it came from people comparing it to the original series, and a lot of Korra’s writing is executed in a strange ways because of how Nickelodeon was approving them on a season by season basis essentially so they weren’t sure if they’d get more episodes. I personally love it and I’m hyped to see y’all’s reaction
@wtimmins58 минут бұрын
I think a big part of it is the tonal shift. A lot of folks wanted more ATLA and it just wasn't the same type of show, completely. Now, me, I love Legend of Korra, and I think the two series have enormous synergy; I like ATLA more because of stuff in LoK, and LoK thrives because of ATLA.
@teraxe31 минут бұрын
It is similar to the prequel hate, it had died down over time, and I bet the sequel hate will die down as well given time. But I remember so many people complaining that Korra is a Mary Sue.

one thing ill mention right out the gate is that Tenzin as the child of Aang and Katara has the desire to be like his father but the temper and fierce heart of his mother, he's basically if katarra went around fighting her nature trying to be like Aang

The connection between Korra’s struggle to learn airbending after growing up isolated really highlights her lack of a sense of freedom she’s had since she was young. We get more of an explanation/backstory for this in later seasons but it’s important to note that before Aang, all avatars were sent to travel the world at 16 to learn the other elements and also make broader connections. Korra as a 17/18 year old is extremely stunted spiritually but by no fault of her own. I believe she also feels reasonably confined by her role as the avatar and the expectations she’s been facing since she was young. Most avatars get a normal childhood whereas Korra jumped straight into training. A lot of people say Aang is a kid that had to learn how to be the avatar and Korra had the opposite problem with coming to terms with her own individuality.
@1080lights2 сағат бұрын
People talk about nostalgia for ATLA, but I have it for this series. I was the same age as Korra when it aired and instantly had a crush on this attractive and confident character, even when she was cocksure and short-tempered. Then my friends and I had watching parties in our college dorms as Season 2 aired, which was where I met my girlfriend at the time (she may or may not have had fairly similar qualities). It was the first series that I fully watched together with friends instead of talking about shows we watched on our own. I think the technological advancement makes sense. In the first series, the Fire Nation was already using airships and steam engines and now they have cars and radios 70 years later. If you consider our world from 1860 to 1930, that tracks pretty well.

6:10 So apparently there was, at one point, an idea for a fourth book/season of Avatar: The Last Airbender that revolved around the search for Zuko's mom. This premise was reworked several times and turned into a feature-length animated movie, before eventually getting scrapped. Instead Nickelodeon chose to make a live action adaptation of the first season, and we ended up with the M. Night Shyamalan movie.

I’m not here to get political but I will just say that choosing to make Korra a brown teenage girl was a daring choice by the showrunners… and it’s largely the reason people are haters 🤷🏻♀️ it’s also much more serious - there’s no consistent comic relief, and eventually Korra is really going through it lol she’s a sheltered, boisterous person which leads to lots of hijinks, and instead of enjoying it, lots of viewers choose to judge her harshly. I also think too many people went into it expecting the exact same feelings and tropes they got from the original

First 3 episodes introduce you to 4 of my top 5 Characters in Korra. 1. Mako named for Iroh's original voice actor & voiced by Bud Bundy from Married with Children. 2. Wait til Season 3 the best season. 3. Amon voiced by Steve Blum voice of Wolverine in multiple animated series, Zeb in Star Wars: Rebels & Mandalorian, Orochimaru, Zabuza, 3rd Tsuchikage & a few other characters in Naruto. 4. Lin voiced by Frau from the Austin Powers films. 5. Bolin voiced by P.J.Byrne who was Adam Bourke in The Boys.

Technologically, the show makes sense. The first Avatar series was the equivalent to the early to mid 1800s, so it makes sense that 100 years later we'd be in the 1920s. The Korra series is very different than Ang's, but equally awesome!

Hard to be sure, but a Yuan in the real world is about 14 cents US, so that would be $4200 US - and Korra seems to fit with 1920s so, adjusting for inflation, that would be in the $60,000 today. But that is very thin ice going from animation to real world.

@wakkadakka919252 минут бұрын
0:41 "people shit on it for no reason" - To be honest there are plenty of reasons. But it all comes down to how you perceive the Korra series. If we take it as a standalone series, then it's actually good and quite well made. But if we take it in comparison with the Aang series, then it loses in everything, especially in the development of the story and characters. Most people were expecting a direct sequel of the Aang series (not the Aang story itself, but the same type of storytelling), and they got a separate series with a completely different type of storytelling, and they were very disappointed. So again, it all comes down to how you personally perceive it.
