The 90 min call would be what we call at my cargo airline a hot reserve. You are on that 90 minute leash for 8 hours at a time, then on a rest period. You're not on that leash 24/7. My airline is a 60 minute leash for hot but that is for domestic, not international. Some people bid hot reserve at a base where they live, so they can be at home instead of in a hotel. Kelsey is a fairly new captain so he's low on the captain seniority list, thus he will get stuck with the schedules that those with more seniority don't want. Hope this helps.

Nice job Kelsey! I love going on flights with you as your attitude is always so positive. I did a lot of flying while in the Coast Guard. I know how exciting it is to fly non-stop for 18 hours in a search grid in the middle of the ocean at a few hundred feet above the water. But I still love flying!

I’m glad that even Kelsey still does the “keys wallet phone” check like the rest of us.
@scott370407 ай бұрын
"Wallet, keys, comb, pen, watch, dogtags." Did that check for 21 years in the military. Flew helicopters for the first half, then a desk for the second. Kept it at a low hover. I retired in 2002. Haven't worn a watch or dogtags since. Still do the mental check though. Thanks for the great videos, Kelsey!

You are part of the story! No big event goes off without so SO many people doing their job, their part. You’re not on the “credits” but without you doing your job, no way that concert happens. Same as the roadies, lumpers, and ramp crews! Your bird doesn’t fly without the dueler, the ground marshals, the tug operator. You know that. They’re all part of the story, whether they know it or not, whether they get credit or not. Even down to the people that built the gear you’re flying to AU.

Super cool you landed in Avalon. Fun fact, Avalon is home to the largest airshow in the southern hemisphere. Pretty cool for such a small airport that gets overlooked a lot due to the larger Tullamarine airport in Melbourne.
@ninehundreddollarluxuryyac59587 ай бұрын
Thanks for the story about being a part of the team that made the concert happen. Its too easy to fight your way through the day and feel bad about it. It helps to be reminded sometimes to take a minute and appreciate that your work makes things happen in the world.

Was that Avalon? Thanks, I wasn't sure. I drove taxis for years and am very familiar with Melbourne Airport and Essendon Airport but I've never been to Avalon. I was trying to work out where he landed. I was working in Collingwood the weekend of the concert and we could hear the crowd. I wish I had known Kelsey was in our city, so much more exciting to me than a pop star!

40 degrees is balmy in February. You will literally see MC on the road. I always chuckle when I’m in a southern state and it’s 50-60 degrees and people are wearing parkas, face mask, gloves etc. Our winters are what their summers are like and that’s stay inside.

This was beautiful. Been watching this channel for a long time; and the vibe here was different in a good way. I can’t speak to editing or camera shots or all the rest…it just felt like a well-produced short film, but with a legit pro who has to do a real job that the majority of folks can’t do, while documenting it nonetheless. Much respect, Kelsey.

@4:57 THAT IS SO TYPICAL! As pilots we are just so used to rushing and getting things done, just to wait some more... That anticipatory stress is so recognizable. That on top of the: "Oh I have 5 more hours"... "I Have 4 more hours"... "I have 3 more hours"... The better the sleep in the bunks!

I have been in 747's many times, mostly to Asia. But I have to say it would be a pleasure or maybe even fun to have you as Captain once. Could be a blast.

Also what’s very fun, is watching Kelsey as he does his pilot things but there’s another KZbinr called Stig Aviation who goes over some of the maintenance and parts of the aircraft. Together, it is super informative and interesting. Love it, and I’m not one bit interested in entering the airline field. Just love learning. Thanks Kelsey for letting us in.
