1:39 I really don’t understand why you continuously repeating the same mistakes in many of your videos..?? Why you call Mosaddegh government in Iran, a democratically elected…? It wasn’t… he was a prime minister selected by the Emperor of Iran and was kicked out by him according to the constitution of Iran then…But Mosaddegh tried to stage a coup against the shah with the help of clergy and USSR that was initially successful but after the coup he dismantled the parliament and the judiciary and wanted to start his own dictatorship that with the help of the US money, all the same clergy that initially supported him, all the members of parliament, the generals that didn’t want him as their new leader, and judges, he was kicked out eventually…!! In the Iranian constitution of the time, Shah selects and kicks out the prime ministers not election..!! Mosaddegh himself was against the elections since the constitutional revolution during the dynasty before Pahlavi…

Honestly, as a Russian, I am very skeptical of this and believe that this 'New cold war' topic is inflated. I mean, the world is too globalized and interdependent right now. In the real cold war time, there was virtually no trade and closed borders between two blocks and now more than half of China's trade is with the West and vice versa. Every political move discussed is in my view hypocritical, since everyone keeps trading with everyone regardless of these 'alliances'. And that Brics are developing a new currency is just laughable, they aren't even an alliance (SA's president was to arrest Putin if he comes)
@Nickdpoul
@Nickdpoul 9 ай бұрын
Even in the original cold war there was some trade and relations between the blocks. Maybe not for the people, but for the governments and the powerful at least. The interdependency is keeping things from collapsing, but we see in the last years that the new blocks are trying to cut this dependency. But at the end of the day, global politics is just the result of thousands of small decision by people with conflicting interests, who will cooperate for some time if it helps them all.

Also from ideological point of view, China or Russia don't provide any solid and self-sufficient ideology or vision of better future as Soviet Union did. Economic growth of these countries was nurtured and empowered by the West, and politically China and Russia are way too corrupt and unripe compared to Western Democracies. Thus, to call it a new bipolar world is exaggerated. Most countries still see democracy as their ideal and only lean towards the East in some specific matters.

this is such a nuanced take- so often we see china being portrayed as something of an aggressor but seeing it from a more neutral perspective you can kinda see why they view the west as hypocritical

Yeah china hasn’t been aggressive compared to any other world power since they came into power really. The only things that come to mind of them sending troops to other places: Korean War, invasion of Tibet and the sino-Vietnamese war. One of which also had American troops, and they have also invaded Vietnam. And China haven’t invaded Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan

while China is being the biggest hypocrite. I cannot agree more. What China is portraying as a global peace maker, but in fact its policies is straight out imperialism while the US is at the very least keeping a façade of capitalism. While claim to be a non-aggressor to the world, it has been threatening Taiwan for decades. I guess your neutral perspective is more of a copium sadly.

There's a lot to be said for old school effects and other "old school" additives/techniques that went underappreciated and have slowly become lost in the modern media landscape. Slowly we're learning why they were so good and ubiquitous to begin with. Look at the cinema. It's the one place where many young people including myself and even some of the older generations might listen to a piece of really traditional classical music without even noticing it, because it just works!

8:00 BRICS is not some rival to the West or NATO. To make a single currency or military alliance between such disparate far-flung countries would take a lot more unity and mutual co-operation than these states are capable of. The EU is geographically and culturally linked through their proximity to one another and even they haven't managed to spread the Euro to all members, or establish a formal alliance that isn't NATO. China and India are always skirmishing over their border, Russia's a global pariah, and South Africa is nearly a failed state that recently threatened to arrest Putin if he stopped by for the BRICS summit. NATO they ain't. And a mutual trade currency can't have garbage economies attached to it (South Africa, arguably Russia). Look what Greece did to the Eurozone.

As a Chinese person, I've never seen a more "passively subjective" video on China Vs. USA. I mean, there are channels that present very obviously which side they partake, and then there is this video, pretending to be objective while it is clearly Chinese sided. America's decline has been overstated for the last 50 years. People forget that America's hegemony was not solely built on its military might and trade but also on its soft power. While some might look at America's political/cultural system as one in deep decline, it still offers way more to the individual than what is offered in Xi's China or Putin's Russian- personal freedom. And because America attracts all sorts of people/talent, it will continue to grow in ways that Putin or the CCP would never tolerate.

They also exploit people of other countries for their own benefit by stealing oil, water etc. Same with very rich people who exploit the environment and manipulate common people. I also like helping others. Just a few weeks ago, we organised an eye checkup and treatment camp for mostly old people who were poor and couldn't afford treatment for their eyes. AS an Indian, India currently has border issues with China (because of its aggressive expansionist policy), its occupation of Aksai Chin, and the BRI road that is going through "Pakistan Occupied Kashmir," to which India calls out a breach in its sovereignty (because of its claim on that part of land). It is very unlikely that China will be able to woo India onto its side. India has also rejected a common BRICS currency (though BRICS as a grouping has a lot of potential and can be a serious threat to the US and West). And Russia is just a shell of the former Soviet Union; though militarily strong but economically weak, it poses no substantial threat to the US and the West. And one of the key reasons why Russia places much importance on friendship with India is to keep China in check in Asia. The same is true for India; it cannot boycott or sanction Russia because it will push Russia closer toward China, making China more powerful. Therefore, China is going to have a bumpy road on its path to supremacy. It is the rise of a multi-polar world that is a threat to the USA and the West's supremacy, where other poles of power like India, though not powerful enough to substantially jeopardize the West's interests, if ignored and looked down on, would face severe losses and may lose their earlier much-enjoyed importance.

Do we have to constantly think about things with a "war" mindset? China is pursuing its own economic interests but doesn't want to actually have a conflict with the US - and has stated so multiple times. From what I've seen, this "new cold war" language mainly comes from the US side. Are countries allowed to pursue economic projects independent from the US, without this being classified as being a "war"? I think people are willing a war into existence where there needn't be one.

It has already been laid bare by the war in Ukraine war that Russia's military is not even close to superpower status. They have nukes but it is mutually assured destruction to use them and is nearly a moot point. We have been providing Ukraine our scrap and without putting a single boot on the ground, Russia is being defeated. They are using World War II era tanks and after a year and a half don't even have any substantial air superiority. Russia doesn't have a blue water navy and their airlift capability is lacking. We have the best blue water navy in the world and have the best airlift capability ever seen. We have bases all over the world which gives us a huge leg up. In no sense of the word is Russia a superpower, whether economically, militarily or technologically. What does Russia produce for the world that is of value? They have a lot of oil but what innovations do they create that help humanity? Russian women are lined up to marry American men so that they can come here and escape that backward, second rate country that is run by a tin pot dictator. All of the Chinese military which we hear so much about is stolen American technology that isn't being perfected like the way that we do it. China has an excellent area of denial capability, but we have a wartime reserve capability that hasn't been seen yet and hopefully won't be needed. Also, China doesn't have any recent combat experience which plays a huge role in military effectiveness. We have many decades worth of combat experience. We don't have a near peer adversary as we are meant to believe.

That's true, but there is a long game the US can look forward to. That is 'universal values', the values that will develop naturally as nations get more educated and wealthier. Unless these third world countries go down the path of North Korea, and strictly keep their people perpetually poor and uneducated. This is also brewing inside China and Russia as their educated Middle class are increasingly unhappy with how things are going. Brain drain and disloyalty from the middle class will hurt them bad.

@Caxacate significant numbers of the educated Chinese middle class have already adopted universal values. Why do you think feminism is big in China right now? Why do you think the Chinese government cracks down on it? They might not be protesting on the streets on mass, facing bullets and tanks, but they also arent willing to die for the Chinese regime. Look at the "lie flat" and the "let it rot" movements inside China. These are all new sparks that the Chinese civilization never had before it came into contact with universal values. This is why the CCP has a firewall on its internet, why everything is heavily censored, and why they're pushing for internal circulation. They are afraid of their people awakening.

As a chilean, i'm glad to see the superpowers to fight each other on trade mainly. While the mayority of our history we depended on one foreign superpower (Spain during the colony, the UK in the 1800s, and the US in the 1900s), today we can trade with all the major actors, and progress and advance with liberty to trade with the ones we wish and decide to trade, regardless what the "superpower" at the moment can dictate.

It is very astute of you to recognize this. Your understanding of Chile's history paints a clear picture that the current world order is "the best it ever has been" for the majority of the Western and developing world. While this US has been overly aggressive in many places over the decades, the system that it upholds allows nations, that would not normally have a chance, to trade with one another.

@@tiagogomes3807 I think its important to point out that this wasn't the case in before WW1, Britain and the US maintained an exclusivity with trade in the Western hemisphere. However, this changed after WW2, where the US guaranteed open trade by patrolling the global oceans as part of its grand strategy to contain the Soviet Union. After the cold war this has been a status quo largely out of lack of vision on what to do next and a domestic politics that is allergic to any coercive foreign policy that doesn't show clear benefits to global security. Leaving this here in case someone thinks the US policy hasn't changed since Teddy Roosevelt.

It is essential to express opposition to China's naval expansion, given its primary objective of controlling the Taiwan Strait (and the South China Sea).
