After arriving in Shymkent, we slept at a hostel for about 4 hours before heading to the bus station. The day's goal was to travel from Shymkent, Kazakhstan to Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Little did we know, our day was not going to be as simple as hopping on a bus. 3 shared taxis later and we finally made it to our hostel in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Your videos are so great and I wish you the best. There are people who speak English in Kazakhstan, but you have not met many of them. Greetings from Kazakhstan ❤❤❤

Thank you!! I think we need to learn a little Russian. It would help us a lot. We need to return to central asia and give the area the time it deserves! Beautiful places, great food, affordable prices and nice people. What more could you ask for!?

@@craigmack9706it’s because they were only here for a short time. Kazakhstan is not only two cities Aktau and Shymkent. They were not even at sea in Aktau ... I am very disappointed with the comments and the fact that our country was shown only from this side

show us some sights/attractions from these vast countries... after all, what's all this logistical hassle, sleepless travelling, dangerous seedy rail stations and bus depots and dodgy hostels for? e.g. Kazakhstan has the Baikonur Cosmodrome. But you're probably long gone - as I suspect there's a significant lag between when you do the travelling and when the videos are posted.

Normally, we never travel this fast. We usually spend about a week in each location. If you check out our previous videos you can see the timeline that lead us here. Also, the only dodgy or seedy situations was our lack of knowledge of where we were going and how to get there. Although we didn't stop long enough in some of these cities, our journey to get to Samarkand was one of our favorite weeks in all of our travels. Thanks for watching!!

I'm originally from the former soviet union, and speak russian natively, but I honestly wouldn't do what you've been doing in Kaz and Uz. Pay a little more, and fly. It's not expensive, you could have flown from Aqtau to Tashkent direct for about 150 bucks each. And always use a travel agent to book train travel in Uzbekistan, as high speed services to Samarkand and Buhara are limited and sell out quickly, but travel agencies have a pool of tickets that they keep on hold until about an hour prior to departure. Yes, you would have had to pay an agent commission, but it's worth it to travel in comfort at 200 km per hour.

I disagree. What an adventure...all that you overcame, the interaction with the people. Amazing!

Thank you for all the advice! We will totally look for a travel agent next time but a $150 flight each was a little out of our desired price range. Also, airplane travel days aren't nearly as exciting as what we experienced on this day!

We film what we see. Sometimes our videos are highly researched and sometimes we are just passing through. As a traveler, we could never show off a city or country as well as a local. Unfortunately, our timing in all of Central Asia was not great. We will be back!
