Live with things a while before deciding to paint. You have other things to focus on for now. Remember to keep a bassinet and baby supplies on the main floor too so you don’t have to constantly climb the stairs. Both my boys spent time in a rectangular laundry basket in the living room and kitchen until they grew out of it. It was the right size to easily move from room to room as I did things around the house. Forty years later I’m still using the same basket for its original purpose.

In the dining room, instead of using white caulk on top, you can use the green color--it will fool the eye. As far as the mismatch, the wallpaper is busy, so you really don't see it.
@laraemitchell90642 жыл бұрын
I can’t see the miss match. Even when you pointed it out. Maybe if you held the shit longer. But I get it. My daughter goes crazy with anything she sees that doesn’t line up. Quarter round for sure instead of caulk. The caulk would drive you just as nuts as not fixing it. Maybe more.
@susansalyards14562 жыл бұрын
I agree ... if I would change anything, I would paint the white chair rail and base boards to be one of the light colors in the wall paper. Ive had an interior decorator tell me to paint the ceiling a lighter shade of the green.
@lorridemoss67392 жыл бұрын
You have been so busy!! The new house is looking more and more like a home. I'd suggest painting the white chair rail the same green to have it disappear or else painting it, the beadboard, and the baseboards a lighter green. The white is too stark against the green. I see the nursery walls as more of an avocado green than neon. Regardless, it's your home and as long as you are happy, that's what matters. Love the artwork with the price tag. Like everyone else, anxiously awaiting the baby. 👼

Paint the wainscotting (the green below) white as well. Then no band of white in the middle, which does visual break up the room and make it look smaller. The all white below will tie in with the windows Better, highlight the wallpaper design and notnhave so much competing green in the room.

I commented already Jocelyn before I had seen the baby's room. You have both done an amazing job with it and it is certainly not 'neon' green. That wallpaper is fabulous and perfect. You are really making me want to 'finish' my own house having been here for four years now but it is so hard when one is by themselves. Your outdoor space is idyllic. You are doing everything so tastefully. I am in love with the large rug 'carpet' on your living room - please don't let that go 💕💕💕

Your house is beautiful. I like the white chair rail, but there is a touch of yellow in the wallpaper - might pick that up in the chair rail. The lighter green from the wallpaper is a nice idea too. I wouldn't caulk - the 1/4 round is a really good idea and it will make the ceiling molding even more majestic. The blue bathroom is wonderful. A nautical feeling and nice with the floor. If you thinks it's too much blue, maybe do the upper or lower section white at some point. Can't wait to see your new couch. And of course the little angel coming shortly! Her room is not neon -it's a gorgeous green!

Yes , 1/4 round would be a nice easy fix . Also, if you want to paint the trim your best bet is to pick a color from the wall paper it self that is one of the less noticeable to pull it together. I did that with a bedding set for our master bedroom to pick a wall paint and it worked .

Everything's looking very colorful! I agree that white is glaring on the dining room chair rail, but I think it should be white, along with the baseboards, the window frames, sills, etc. It's the deep green on the bottom wall below the chair rail that is darkening the room and blah! My suggestion is to pick the lightest pleasant wallpaper color & match it to a paint to cover the lower wall. The chair rail won't glare so much, the room will be lighter, and everything should tie together better. The baby's room looks so much cuter with that wallpaper and the white furniture to tone down those green walls...babies love bright colors! I agree about that blue paint in the bathroom. The dark paint on the lower wall looks good next to the floor tile...change the upper walls to plain, bright white, or whatever you guys used for the doors and windows. It will open up the space in that bathroom. I love giving decorating advice, no offense taken if you choose to ignore it, lol. 💕

Ok girl, interior designer here. U asked for advice on your dining room, here u go! I love, love, love your wallpaper and I get you on that white chair rail. It pops so much it overshadows the wallpaper a tad. Only problem is, your window panes and trim are white. SO, I might shy away from a different, lighter paint color on the chair rail that might not flow with your trim. Also instead of introducing another paint color. maybe consider a stained wooden chair rail to match the floor stain for a more balanced look. I also want to touch on your living room furniture dilemma. U were correct in your assertion that Ashley is not known for quality furniture. If u don't get satisfaction from them on your ETA, etc try Smith Brothers Furniture out of Berne, Indiana. I believe they service PA. Handmade from top to bottom and you can customize everything about it. It's more expensive that Ashley, but not the most expensive by far and they offer a lifetime warranty. It's built to withstand your growing family while looking super stylish. They're not paying me!! But I use them all the time and folks are always happy! Good luck to you, and thanks for teaching me so much!

I thought the nursery looked lime green too, not neon green! It's very pretty. Your whole house is. In the dining room, I would suggest that the only thing I might paint is the chair rail, perhaps a lighter shade of green from the same colour family. Best wishes to you and Andrew and the kids on your move and the precious little bundle that could come your way any time now.

Beautiful house! Have you considered using upholstery trim to finish the edges between dining room wallpaper and wood trims. Just as a simple trim finishes edges on a silk lampshade, a simple basic, cord or braid trim of an appropriate size could be a cost effective and elegant solution. Three pieces of advice: 1.) Give yourselves the summer to allow the paper to expand and contract with summer changes in humidity,, then reattach any edges that may have loosened.. 2.) Use an adhesive that will dry clear and can be cleanly sanded when you want to remove it. (Adhesive that won't melt and gum up on sand paper.) 3.) Give yourself time to pick something. Make samples using wallpaper scraps, painted pieces of wood and different types of trim to pick your favorite. Also use your samples or mock-ups to test which trims would be most successful at easily giving you a nice straight line and the coverage you want. I love the William Morris style wallpapers that you selected. So beautiful! So cozy! Really fits with your architecture. If I was a child it would look magical to me.

You are tired and very preggers, might be effecting your uncertainty about the colors. The green dining room is lovely, and the white chair rail looks nice, in my opinion. Of course, it's your home. I also like the 2 tone blue bathroom. Maybe live there awhile and see if your opinion changes. Then do as you see fit. The house is great. Congratulations on everything.

Your house is so lovely and artistic too. The rug in the living room is super glorious! Where did you find it? Love the baby's room and the kid's room too. You guys are doing a wonderful job and the help of your family is fantastic. Thank you for being so generous to all of us by showing your progress. Beautiful ideas! Can't wait to see the new little angel and watch everything fit into the right places. Happiness to you all. Keep up the great work, but try and get some rest too.

I think in your Dining room I would match the color of the flowers in the wallpaper, it’s hard for me to tell the color, light yellow? Gold? I think that would tone down the brightness and not draw your eye to the center. It would blend better. The house looks beautiful so far!! I’m excited for your family.

With the dining i think going with a lighter color from the wallpaper would be better and the quarter round would give it a high end look and a finished look. As far as the kitchen live with it for awhile so when you make the changes you will only have to do it once to fit your needs. The bathrooms color clashes with the the wood cabinet, adding items on the walls might help. Main thing is have fun with your wonderful new home. Stay healthy, happy and safe always. Blessed be

I like the white trim. Brings out the flowers in the wallpaper. Once you load the room with your furniture it will make more sense.

* 1/4" Round Wood Molding Trim is the best fix at the top of the dining room wallpaper. Prime and paint it before installing so you only have a few touch ups when you're done with the installation. The 1/4" Round will also keep the top of the wallpaper from curling down in the natural heat and humidity in your home. Caulk is not a good idea at all--too messy and you won't get the straight line your eye is looking for. Just my opinion!--but I've got 40 years of rehab under my belt. That is going to be a fun house to decorate! Best wishes!~ :-)

I agree with Pamela Wood, a pale yellow would certainly give this room a nice bright space!

It looks great. So nice to see it coming together. The idea of an office and keeping your bedroom separate is a great. I also got to thinking about the curtain for Juliette’s bunk and think about a sparking twinkling fairy light curtain. It would be little stars for her. My fav is the living room. We are all sending good vibes as you wait patiently for little one. Dying to know name ideas…

The blue bathroom looks nice. Put a little yellow with it too. When you pick a paint color to match an older tile with an older color in it causes the older color to be different then you might have picked if it were a completely new bathroom. The style of the house does have to be taken into account when picking appropriate decor. It looks nice and lots of room for the whole family.

The house looks great. The paint in the baby’s room did look neon in the first video but it must have been the light cause now it looks more like an apple green color. I briefly saw the hinges on the baby furniture before you closed the door and it looked like the changing table has European hinges. If it does you should be able to turn a screw to align the door right. Check the instruction it should say how to adjust them. I always get confused which screw does what so I’m not gonna give any advice on which one you should adjust. Lol

Your house is lovely. I would say that you should live with the colors for awhile. With the new baby coming, you should take some time to just relax and get used to your new house. I personally love the choices you made. Your house is an eclectic mixture of old and new! Its beautiful, Jocelyn!

House looks great. I agree on pulling lighter color out of darker wallpaper. Maybe a pale yellowish like the petunias(?), with a little bit of color to contrast with the whiter trim. But whatever you decide, it will be lovely (as you are!)❤️
