This is common practice with casinos and high rollers. And mizkif describing XQC is how a lot of them are. Theres so many old retired people that just come in monthly and blow 10-100k on slots and shit like its nothing. Casinos will do absolutely everything to make sure theyre wasting their money in their establishment.

The research on gambling shows that people have a better time losing (more specifically a little win every few losses)than winning big. I believe the reasoning was something along the lines of, winning big is a pattern disruption and pattern disruption will subconsciously upset you. Although people are still happy they won, their enjoyment starts dwindling after a big win.

It's always funny when people find out about the perks that big spenders at the casinos get. The grandmother of a close family friend was a big spender in Vegas. We live a few hours from Vegas and they'd send her a jet to pick her up from our small town airport just to fly her out and put her up in a suite for the weekend just so she could play. This was back in the 90's up until the 2010's when her age finally caught up to her and she couldn't make it out there anymore.
