The new homestead is looking great. I am also love this aspect of your channel. After seeing you both working together to upgrade your boat, this is a natural step to have a land-based location when you store your boat off season. Living in a tent suits you both with your adventurous lifestyles. I will be looking forward to each episode and enjoy each step of your dream virtually. Thanks for taking us all with you. 😊❤😊

Nice looking tent, my dad lived in a 18' x 14' for 5 years, year round. He didn't have a floor, preferred the ground, said it was easier to keep clean and his terrier kept the mice away. Make sure that no branches are touching the roof, you will have water leaks when it rains. He was in eastern BC along the Elk River and moved to lake Koocanusa for a few years. Hope to see lots of your land based experiences going forward, along with your play time in the waves.

If your dad can do it we can too! Although Bruce has been lacking when it comes to keeping mice away

Amazing tent and can’t wait to see how Alie decorates it ! It was fun watching how the tent went from “oversize” to “perfect fit” for the base 🙈🤣🤣 Can’t wait for the next episode 😊👍

Wow!! Weekly videos! That's what I'm talk'n about. I can't wait to see Alies decorations. Home sweet home. When Ben opened those bags of parts for the tent, I said, oh shit!! Good job with the help of friends.

Nice job, except I think you have your stovepipe installed upside down. With it that way small amounts of smoke will leak into the tent and cause eye irritation and sore throats. I’m assuming there’s enough air leaks in the tent to keep you safe from CO but you never know. Long term minor smoke leaks will also eventually start to stain the white interior walls. Be careful with embers from the stove and the wood floor. A wall tent on a platform like that burned down in the campground space directly opposite us a few years back. Nearly took the whole campground with it. They had left the fire to die when they left but a few embers must have leaked out between the door and the stove. With the plywood so dry right below the stove it caught on really fast. Thank goodness the folks in the neighboring site had seen them leave and reacted very quickly.

Don't give advice about things you don't know. The pipe it correct.
@BreakingWavesSailing11 ай бұрын
wow that's awful! We will definitely look into getting a fire extinguisher, thanks for the thought!

Metal or ceramic tiles under that stove plus 1 ft. out the front. Also 3 self-tap screws/stove pipe joint. Consider wire brace for exterior. Don't ask why I know.😢

That's very cool. I'm sure the homey touches made it awesome for temporary living. I'm planning to DIY a similar metal structure with painted canvas duck as my mobile CNC woodshop and boat building strongback and transport trailer to make affordable durable walls and roof. I'm in to middle of transportation the donor trailer frames and starting to fabricate those over the winter here in PA. It won't be elegant like your new home base, but I'm curious how you like that design after using it for months now. Does it hold in heat well?
@BreakingWavesSailing11 ай бұрын
Hey Larry! The wall tent is pretty sweet for teporary liiving situation but it definitely does not hold in heat at all. We basically continuously had to feed the wood stove to stay warm during the winter here in BC. Apart from that though we really like it!

Great effort guys, the tent looks amazing and as Alie said it turned out bigger than she thought and I agree, when you quoted the measurements I didn't think it would be that big 🤔🤔 on another note I think Bruce has the best job, when someone points the camera at him he just opens one eye, nothings happening so back to snooze mode 🤣🤣

You definitely need a liner. it keeps you from freezing in the winter and cooler in the summer.

We’re heading back to our sailboat in Mexico for the winter. The wall tent has a wood stove that keeps it fairly warm but no it’s not insulated

Garbage? Brooks peninsula? I work for lemare lake logging, they sent three wiggle waggons all the way out to the west coast to pick up garbage. Was that what was going on???
@BreakingWavesSailing11 ай бұрын
hmm I don't think that would have been us, we helicopter our garbage to a barge that gets delivered to the Gold River sorting centre. Small world though!

Hopefully the local tenting laws for the homeless will not impact your tent! Lol
