It was nice to see both Ben and Ashley agree with the plan to go help the locals get safely home. I say nice because it's not unusual as both Ben and Ashley grew up on the southern tip of a large Island off the coast of southern British Columbia and are familiar with wind, waves and boats. The best part was knowing Ashley stayed on board Nahoa, to monitor the anchor and keep the kids safe. Still it was nice as some folks wouldn't have done anything but watch. Go Canada.

Of course, if you had had equal concern about your/family welfare as you had for the islanders, you might have filled the gas tank of the Highfield dingy to insure your own safety. You took a chance that turned out ok, but just remember to equalize the risks you might take for others sake cuz your family really needs your love and constant energy. And so do we. Very glad you could help the fellow mariners at the drop of the hat, great being in touch with your ability to help others. Just know that you are beyond precious to your three loves.

Awesome video as usual. When I have guests or kids onboard , I have a small 4oz spray bottle with either vodka or rum in it and spray the gills of freshly caught fish. Kills them instantly without bludgeoning or stabbing the fish. Vodka at sea helps tooth ache , disinfects cuts and many other uses. These are waters I sailed in 1980 to1990.

Why wouldn’t you want to help someone just because? Do we really need to be rewarded for everything we do? The simple fact is it is very very hard to be selfless. Especially when you face danger mitigation on a daily basis like you do. This is an awesome example of selflessness. Needing nothing in return is a powerful place to be.

From one boater to another? Thank you for that Ben and Ashley. I've been in both positions. I've pulled people home with my SeaRay. A friend and I were in my aluminum jon boat catfishing early in the year 94'. Motor went out and two boats passed us while we were in trouble. Had the flares and the whistle going and they looked the other way as they passed us by. We didn't have smartphones back then or I would have got a shot of their numbers. It's illegal here in the states to pass a boater in distress without rendering aid. Not to mention what the good Lord or Karma is going to do to you if you don't! We are subject to Murphy's Law more so than other folks. Best to keep your slate clean. Safe journey is my friends. 🙏

Hi. I’ve been a viewer from the early days before kids In my previous life I built, owned and lived at a deep draft marina. Our children grew up on the water. Now as a retired grandparent, I am amazed at how the little ones seem to stumble and get jerked around on deck with no life gear. I get it. As a parent you don’t want them to fear the water. The big however for me is why no attempt to have even a self made inflatable device for them. A piece of clothing that would give them sun protection and flotation could be easily sewn up. Things can happen rather rapidly on the water, especially on a faster boat. As a test. Throw a fender overboard and see how fast you travel from it I am just an old lifetime sailer and mean you no harm with my perhaps harsh sounding comment . Take care

A great book to read ( besides the Bible lol) is the book A Case for Christ. Not trying to be pushy, but as someone who believes in heaven and hell, I always try and give people the option to know. It's your choice on what you do with it:) Praying safe travels for your family!

When gaffing a fish. Hold the gaff below/under the belly section of the fish at about a little forward of midpoint with the hook uppermost and pull the gaff towards you and up. You have much more chance of losing a fish gaffing as you did. You also damage less edible flesh by gaffing the belly section. happy fishing.

Nahoa, you guys are the role model of global citizens/cruisers. So many times on YT the poor locals in developing countries were portraited by cruisers as dangerous and or crimes infected places. You genuinely wanting to share what you have with the locals is heartfelt. As for the little out of control from the crowd, this is mild chaos compared to the Black Friday shopping crowd at the mall in the US or Canada every Christmas and most shoppers already had a lot at home.
