Pro Tip from Pediatrician- When you have two littles close in age and they’re both crying at the same time and you’re panicking- get the oldest settled first. It’ll take the guess work out of deciding and the oldest is more likely to understand or get upset feelings if they have to watch you help the newborn first. CONGRATS 🎉 !! So happy for your growing family!!

I pray you find the happiness you seek however I am sure all the woman being raped and forced to give birth don’t agree with you! And it’s perfectly acceptable to say having children isn’t a miracle it’s painful and a HUGE learning process on top of financial stress! Getting pregnant isn’t a miracle unless the person who’s pregnant says it is! Being pregnant isn’t sunshine and rainbows! ICP, I have seen woman basically claw their flesh off and that’s just one pregnancy complication!

I love that Matt’s reaction to Abby projectile vomiting was “it was so so sad” because he had empathy for her, instead of saying “it was so so gross” which, let’s be real, it’s vomit and it is gross. However, I really appreciate seeing a man be more empathetic towards his spouse than grossed out.
@Artsthetics
@Artsthetics 4 ай бұрын
No need for appreciation, that's how it should always be. If Abby did that, you wouldn't have felt the need to comment this because women are always supposed to be empathetic, but when a man does it you suddenly feel the need to appreciate him for it. That's literally the bare minimum. She's his WIFE obviously he wouldn't say "it was so gross" and it's not him being "empathetic", it's simply him being a normal loving husband which would be the case in every healthy, normal relationship.

As the “oopsie baby” in my family with my brother and I only being a year and a half apart, my mom always was honest letting me know that yeah! It was really scary and a shock but also she never not loved or wanted me even if the emotions were all over. Unfortunately my momma was NOT happy. She was actually very angry (I mean that's on Her & my dad. I had zero to do with it)! So long story short, my sister next to me has hated me my entire life cause I took her spot as baby. My oldest sister raised me, (literally) & to this day is still like my mom and we are extremely close. I have 3 boys. First 2 are 20 months apart. We were using condoms, spermicide, mini pill and breastfeeding. Found out when my oldest under 1 and was still soooo hard. We were not sure if we were going to have anymore because the first was so hard. I cried for 2 weeks after finding out. Not tears of joy. He turned out to be the biggest blessing and most wonderful child from the beginning. He will be 21 in April. Best surprise ever. So grateful for him.

Thank you for voicing that not every tear is a joyful one when you initially find out about a surprise pregnancy. I am still reeling from finding out I'm expecting 5 days ago, and not everything has been sunshine and roses. We did NOT plan or expect this, and it's not the greatest timing, but we are adjusting to the idea and ARE happy - just scared! Lol! Thanks again!

@@KitKat10281I found out that I was pregnant when my daughter was almost 9 months old, but she would have been 6 months old when I got pregnant. I was on the mini pill, I had been exclusively breastfeeding, AND we were pulling out. Apart from abstinence, like we were prevennnnting 😂 and it was a good 3.5 weeks, I was straight up distraught. I had no happiness for that first trimester (I was already 9 weeks when I found out I was pregnant), but I also knew that I couldn't go through with getting an abortion although I heavily considered it. The postpartum experience with my daughter was awful. The hormones were INSANE, we had all kinds of breastfeeding issues but she never took a bottle, she was super freaking colicky and had severe reflux. Not to mention my pregnancy with her was high risk and had so many problems, I was so so sick the whole time, needing PICC lines and hospitalizations every week for IV meds and such. It just all sucked. And the thought of going through hyperemesis and everything again while also having a literal infant/toddler running around at home made me nauseous lol. I am just about 27 weeks now and have become overjoyed about it, but also still can't believe that I'm redoing that newborn stage with a 15 month old. It's honestly terrifying but also this baby is so loved and I can't believe I contemplated aborting him now. But it is SO SO normal to be freaking the heck out at any unplanned pregnancy. You are not alone

I am a single mom of two. My son is 2 years old and my daughter is 4 months. At times, it is so so tough to have two kiddos so close in age, BUT it is so incredibly rewarding. My biggest hurdle with two kids is making sure that my oldest still gets the attention and reassurance from me. Sometimes I’ll leave my youngest with a family member and I will take my son to do something just he and I do he knows that I’m still taking the time for him too since I know it can be hard for him to understand why I’m not just his mom anymore. I’m one of those women that has a high chance of multiples. It runs in the family. I got pregnant with triplets (all girls) without fertility treatments. Two of them are identical. I got pregnant with twins (a boy and a girl) 5 months after the triplets were born, and they have a 14 month age gap. The twins are only 4 months old now, so I have five kids under two. It is so hard to have so many kids so close in age, but it’s also wonderful and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I hope that because they’re all so close in age that they’ll be close with each other. I know the triplets will only be a grade apart from the twins, so they’ll all be going to the same school most of the time. Will make it a bit easier for me with dropping them off.

@@Hannah_MK I really hope they’ll be close friends as they grow up. Will make all this work I’m doing now more worth it. I don’t have any siblings myself, but I have a cousin that’s eight months younger than me. We were always super close, mainly because we’re so close in age. And my mom was never close with her brother because they had such a large age gap. As far as housework goes, they’re definitely too young to do any now, but I plan to have a “clean up your own mess” policy when they get older. Like they’ll be responsible for their own rooms and laundry. There’s so much laundry with how many of them there are. And I’ve had to switch to cloth diapers because buying diapers for five kids was burning a huge hole in my pocket. It makes for more laundry, but I can’t afford all those diapers. I hope God blesses you and your family as well!

When I had our 5th baby we had 5 kids 6 years old and under. Right now my kids are 7, 6, 4, 2, and 1. I can completely relate to SO much of what y'all have talked about! I was on birth control and exclusively breastfeeding every single time I got pregnant so my first reaction to each positive pregnancy test was shock & overwhelm. Each time I found out I was pregnant I cried and not happy cry. It is just a lot to take in at once! Our first and second kids are the closest at 14 months apart. I was NOT expecting the pregnancy test to be positive but had felt fatigued & nauseated for a few days. I came out of the bathroom in shock and said "We are having a baby." He said "What do you mean? We have a baby right here" as he points to our 5-month-old lying in the floor. By the 6th pregnancy (we had 1 miscarriage in the midst of our 5 live birth children), I just came out of the bathroom in the morning holding a pregnancy test laughing after I had vomited. I had not said a word yet, and my husband looked at me and said "Are you serious?!..." So much of what you talked about is normal - the shock, the denial, needing time to process what is happening. Also, it is so weird to count it up but I went over 8 years with not a single period because every time I got pregnant before I ever started having periods again after a baby. So same thing as you, Abby - I would call my OB office and couldn't give them any dates so they had to estimate the due date based on ultrasound. My encouragement to y'all is this: Yes, the coming months and years will be exhausting, stressful, and overwhelming at times with little ones so close in age, but it is also a wonderful blessing. It has taught me an incredible amount of self-sacrifice. As a follower of Christ it has taught me in very practical ways what it means to die to myself and be a servant. I am often reminded of my limits and weaknesses and inability to care for all these kids in my own strength so it causes me to daily rely on God's grace, goodness, and strength to help me care for and disciple the children that He has blessed me with. In regards to caring for 2 little ones practically, give yourselves lots of grace as you figure out how to navigate it. I learned to park next to cart returns at the grocery store so I could grab a cart to load the kids into right away. When you have toddlers around a newborn, often baby-wearing the newborn is the best way to ensure they are safe when you can't have eyes on them both. One of the hardest things for me was getting used to having to let one child cry while I tended to the other because I can only do so much at one time. You will learn to breastfeed while doing lots of other things (like getting a snack or drink for another child, sitting on the bathroom floor with a potty-training toddler, reading to another child, singing a toddler to sleep, doing homeschool lessons with older children, the list goes on!). I could continue, but this is getting long so I will stop there. Congratulations, Math & Abby! The adventure continues!

It's definitely really hard. When I found out about my second pregnancy, I completely flipped out and had a breakdown. I had just gotten my period, but when I calmed down, I instantly knew I was having twins, the twins I knew I would have since being a small kid. Knowing this was supposed to happen, calmed me down. I was nearly exactly 2 years postpartum. No joke, 3.5 weeks pregnant was when I found out. We have no twins anywhere in our families, at 10 weeks, we found out we were pregnant with fraternal twins. Thankfully, our experience this time around was SO much better than it was with our first. Our twins will be a year in March🥺🥺❤️

I love how we on YT have seen both of you grow up from just married college students to becoming parents with a second child on the way. Abby you are so strong being just who you are. And Matt thanks for being a big brother figure to us bros who are in college and still just starting life.

I got pregnant with my second 5 years after my first and it was totally unplanned. But my husband always liked to say that “it’s a surprise, not an accident”. That always made me feel more positive. My nieces are 15 months apart and I’ve got the chance to see the pros and cons of having kids close and far apart. It’s all in how you approach it. Positivity is super important and you both are definitely positive people. Love the podcasts. I listen to you while I work!!

Im 23 and and have two babies 12 months apart (girl & boy). My youngest just turned 1 this month. It is very challenging at first, but it gets easier! And its so fun to watch them play together! You all got this. Plus you already know how to care for a newborn so you’re already going in with more knowledge than last time! Love you guys!

I had 4 kids under 6 by the age of 26! My last two are twin boys. Divorced when my twins were 3. So I was a single mom, but had great family support! My twins will be 21 in September. You guys got this! Excited for you guys.

After seeing the hint in the short that they had an announcement... Thinking it could be pregnancy, but knowing they had the shorts showing a negative test... I'm very thankful to have the news in the first 2 seconds of the video haha. Congrats you two! I'm only 17 months older than my brother and loved having a close friend growing up. Well, until high school lol

My daughters are 16 months apart. They are now 2.5 & almost 4 and they are BEST FRIENDS! They play so well together and are so sweet to each other. It’s definitely hard having them close in age but it’s also a blessing ❤
