@@heftymerv I am a person who do not like waste also, but never thought of that. I was raised at a farm where we watered the garden with water carried by hand hundreds of meters, and there was plenty of spillage. You know, that water is not wasted, it sips back into earth. There is just some of the pumping energy wasted. And how much was that? 5 percent? 10 percent? And that pumping is just healthy training :)

I was sure my daughter (my first) was a boy while I was pregnant. I felt a very strong presence. She was born, and had such a strong personality! She knows what she wants when she wants it! lol She's 9 now and I don't worry about her at all! I couldn't tell with my second child. Everyone had different ideas, but I couldn't really tell. My son, now 6, has a very gentle easy-going personality. He goes with the flow. Boy or Girl, all you need is love, and I can tell you guys will be great!

Jake, there's not one father who ever had a child before he learned how to be a father. However, what makes you a good father is how you teach your child character and integrity. I told my children that if they were ever doing something that they shouldn't and broke something in the process, I wouldn't be mad at them for telling me, so we could fix it together and used it as a teaching process for them to know how to fix things of their own by themselves. I never laid my hand on either one of them but, I did take away privileges to enforce values on what was right or wrong.

Watching you both always chopping wood make me appreciate my ancestor who were farmers and ranchers from the 19th century back. They would have had to be very healthy despite in some cases having young outside men to help doing chores. And always busy. Congratulations!! I had a feeling you were going to announce a pregnancy. I applaud you for going to a midwife. I had 3 of my 4 daughters at home with a midwife and it was the best choice I could have made. One of my daughters was a water birth and that was amazing. You’re going to do great!

I have been watching you two since you started the yurt and never commented. I literally depend on the peace I feel from watching you build this life together. In some ways, I think of you like Adam and Eve - building a world from scratch, utterly dependent on one another, contributing in ways unique to each one of you, two halves that make a whole, working so hard, planning so carefully, and now you are starting a new life, that will be even more powerful than anything else you have ever done - you will be wonderful parents - and Jake, just you wait - you have no clue what this will do to you, how this will change you. You couldn't have said it any better! God has blessed them both. First, by bringing them together to complete each other, making each other whole. Second, by giving them a child together. You will both be great parents. As for names, I agree on Serenity for the female name. For a male name, it is much harder to pick. I do have one choice. A choice that comes from the heart from me and my wife. That name would be Joshua. That would have been our son's name if he would have survived through full term. As for middle names, or even first names, follow what your heart suggests. I pray that things go well for full term and birth with no complications or problems with both mother and child to be. As a 57 year old father of three beautiful adult daughters, married for twenty years, divorced two years, I can’t imagine my life without my kids. There are few words that explain the feelings of holding your newborns, teaching and encouraging them throughout the years, watching them bloom into adulthood. There maybe a population explosion, but the future generations are the most important part in betterment of life. Whether we live off grid in the wilderness or in New York City it’s up to us as parents to raise our children to believe “ if they can imagine it, they can achieve it” !! You both will be amazing parents.

I never had children and regret it now. I would have loved just one but I used to think like you Jake that there are so many already but I think it's good to go through this experience and to leave your legacy with your child or children.I know Nicole with be a loving, devoted mom. Children are God's greatest gift. That is all you need to remember as parents. A gift. They will bring more joy into your lives than anything else on this earth. The sex of the child does not matter.
