Hi, I'm Spanish, and these are my opinions. 1) I agree with you, the first years were amazing, and as a Spanish I hear a lot of artist of Eurovision of those times, outside of the songs that they sent to the festival (actually people like Raphael or Julio Iglesias are of the greatest artists that we have, even today). I also think that these last years we are starting to do great as well. Blanca Paloma, for example, is my second favourite Eurovision entry of all times. 2) My personal favourite to send this year is Melody, because she has an incredible vocals and do very well at performance. You should see her cover of "Yo soy aquel", by Raphael (it's a song of the ones you have seen in this video). But my second favourite is Lachispa, and I think that would be incredible to send her to Eurovision this year too.

Despite how seriously Spain took Eurovision, it was often shamelessly overlooked! There are so many super-famous names in this video. Raphael was still performing concerts up until very recently. Paloma San Basilio was one of Spain's top artists in the 70s and 80s. Having lived there for many years, I would love for my friends to experience what it's like to finally win again!!! I think my favourites Eres Tu (1973), Lady Lady (1984), Bandido (1990) and EaEa (2023)...

Regarding 2017 and "Do it for your lover": there was a draw in the national final between Manuel Navarro and Mirela (the girl who always comes second), and TVE went with what the professional jury had decided (and not the public SMS/televote). There was deemed to be a conflict of interest, as one member of the jury, a radio presenter had been promoting Manuel's music (in general) before the final. The audience booed during the final reprise and was treated to a bras d'honneur from the singer.

Nice to watch our spanish story with you! Spain had many dark and bright sides. Lucklly seems 200X - 201X era ended and Benidorm fest is taking our ilussions back with the contest. That dark era was resposability about spanish broadcast which didnt was very into the show and after the whole team quit (or fired) we are being competitive :-)

Congratulations on the video, I loved the review, it makes you see the progression that a country has had over the years and the types of song. I think that Spain, starting in the 90s, began to see a decline in the quality of its singers and songs, and of course, thank you for your reaction, for the love and respect for Spain. ❤❤❤

Hellooo, i watched your opinion in the Benidorm Fest video of Europov, and i loved the honest that you was. It's curious how Spain downgrade the powerfull at the start of the 2000's and part of the 2010's, but with Blanca Paloma, and we are close to know if Melody, LaChispa or another surprise, i think that they are returning to the old style (and it's not bad). I'm from Colombia and i would love to see La Casa in Eurovision, but i think Hartita de Llorar, Esa Diva or VIP can win the Benidorm Fest. Un saludo y un abrazo chicas!

Why dont you like Melodías this year? Cantante understand it. She' s Just great and a complete artist. The song is madera for live performance and she givibg it all as singer, dancer and artist. Wait till see her on stage at Benidorm. Greetings from Spain

I would really like to know what it is about Esa Diva that makes you reject it so categorically. It's not my favourite and I know that, in a certain sense, it's out of fashion, but does it sound so bad to you? As a Spaniard, I ask this with genuine curiosity.

I totally get your curiousity, no worries! I see myself as a very open person in general and especially to music, but for some reason I don't feel enything listening to it. And when I really try my best to give it the benefit of the doubt, I am struggelig to take it seriously to be honest.. It1s hard to excplain as well... It's not like one or several things that makes me dislike it. If one takes the song apart to the elements itself I have nothing against the parts except the Meldoy (no pun intended). So yeah. I guess the melody is hard for me to take seriously... I hope that can help you. On the other hand, I have a feeling you like this, and I am just as curious as to why!🤓😅

​@@esc.norwayThank you very much for answering me so kindly. I think I have understood and it looks like a proposal too "cliché" to be taken seriously. It is not that I particularly like the song, but I do not reject it for several reasons. 1. I do not see any with a much better quality , that would make me happy to see representing Spain in Eurovision. 2. Melody is a powerful artist, with a good live performance and very well known in Spain since she was very young. Her participation would make many Spaniards reconnect with Eurovision, which is currently a very devalued festival and not followed by most. If Spain manages to bring famous artists again, it would make the Benidorm Fest gain followers, it would stop being a minority thing and artists of higher quality would also appear. But, if you ask me, what I want is the one with the best proposal to represent us, be it JKabello, Melody or Lucas Bun, for example. I do not see any on the left side, however. Wish be wrong! All of us know who are right now the big artists in Spain... David Bisbal, Monica Naranjo, Malú, Pastora, Diana Navarro, Pablo Alboran, Alejandro Sanz, Rosalía, Aitana, Pablo Lopez, Rosario F, D.Bustsmante, Marta Sanchez, Rozalén, Vanesa Martín, India Martínez, Leire, Enrique Iglesias, Abraham Mateo, Ana Mena, Manuel Carrasco, Andrés Suárez. Luz Casal, Dani Martín, David Otero, Melendi, Orozco, Ruth Lorenzo... But they, or most of them, wouldn't take the risk to go to Eurovision. Just a pity.
