Yes. Me too. That final composite works incredibly well. And, although they have access to some nice gear, all you needs is a decent camera (Blackmagic, anyone) some lighting savvy, and a free copy of Resolve, and you could approach this level with only a modest outlay. Good stuff, and loads of good ideas. And yes, the Tony Perkins bit was chillingly good!

I lost it on the dancing Mother. Nice touch. You're right in the scale of the model does lessen the realism of the shot, but it does make it very stylized, which would work well for something lighter or more comedic. These are great videos.

It would be awesome, if you made a video about hanging miniatures and forced perspective. And also I would love to see some effects with glass, like putting a sheet of glass in front of camera in a way that either reflection in the glass or an object behind can be seen. Love your channel! Your videos are great!

Wonderful work, I am a projectionist and I am sensitive to what you do. Thank you for always highlighting the models. These should not disappear to give way to digital effects but on the contrary they should be an ally to them. I prefer that the camera films a model than 0's and 1's! !

Layering is something that special effects artists have never escaped. Even in the CGI world, you need to take it one element at a time. You just can't throw it on a table, film it in one go and leave it at that.

Absolutely fascinating! Watching how every little facet and detail come together really gives us an appreciation for your work. Though as a longtime hardcore "Psycho" fan, it could be argued that if Norman is outside and looking up at the house, Mother would only be there in her rocking chair. Then again, if you're recreating that famous shot from "Psycho II," then it could be Mary or Lila Loomis - even Mrs. Spool! - up there. So who is it, boys?

Love the content fellas. I think you could have quite a bit of fun with some old school front projection 3m Scotchlite screen material - for some even more authentic "in camera" composites. I have yet to find a current channel that experiments with it. The sheets/backgrounds are definitely on the pricey side unfortunately.

requires a beam splitter to go coaxial to the lens which i have not seen a long time, zoptic process and the introvision process need both. Though there is another technique available which i have done for interactive lighting, but seeing as i work in the industry keeping to myself.

Just found your channel and the content is superb. I would love to see how you would approach this kind of effect with a space budget (sadly, I don’t mean unlimited access to either the ESA or NASA’s bank account). Currently I work as a cameraman, soon be stepping up to DoP, and my office/production space is an 8x8 spare bedroom. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to a large (or even medium sized) studio area. So how would you create these visuals with very limited space? Thanks.

Awesome video! So glad I came across your channel a while back. What focal length and aperture did you use for this shoot? I see so many miniature shots using the probe lens (which I don’t have lol)
@InCameraTV
@InCameraTV 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah probes are great! But not essential for miniatures. You want a wide angle lens with minimal distortion and close your Aperture to around 11 to maintain a deep dof. The lens we used is in the description 👍

THey appear to be using a Blackmagic Pocket (!) cinema camera. Not sure if it's the 4k or 6k version, but for this kind of work, either would be great, and noticeably more affordable than many alternatives at the price. Note that neither of these are full frame. SO don't believe the hype. Just goes t show you can do great work without having to spend a fortune.
