Without him we wouldn't still have the James Bond franchise today. And while we're at it - his light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek approach is the template many a "wise-cracking Hollywood heroes" did it in the following decades. Moore always knew his limitations and compensated with his great charm.

For those of us born in the 70s, James Bond was, is and always will be Sir Roger Moore. There was never a Bond with a better sense of humor, more chivalrous, charming or seductive than Roger. In a nutshell, he was the most charismatic Bond. Diametrically opposed to Daniel Craig's Bond, a depressed alcoholic completely unable to laugh at himself. And the best movie of the ENTIRE Bond saga is "The Spy Who Loved Me": best song (Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon), best gadget (the white Lotus Spirit that turns into a submarine), best Bond girl (Barbara Bach ), best villain (Jaws) and best prologue (skiing off a cliff in the Alps to deploy the British flag parachute). There is nothing more Bond than that movie. Nobody did it better. Rest in peace Mr. Bond.
