Every diesel mechanic on old glow plugs,somethimes they snap and the only way to remove them is by freaking disassamble the hole engine.

The tires are probably foam filled they are immensely heavy had one about 2/3 that size fall on me when I was doing mechanical on telehandlers would have killed me if It didn't get caught on the wall behind me

They use lifts and cranes a lot to move and take out parts, it just ridiculous the labor it takes for some things, i know my bud worked at a mine, to do a tire repair took 3 days on a big mine trucks if it has chains on, 1 day to remove the tire chains, one day to do the tire repair, one day to put the chains back on....

There are 2 threaded holes that drive into the face of the ring carrier to remove the cover, typically you just use one of the bolts you've removed already.

@@THEzBENNYz We know. We are specifically talking about using a tap to drive it off. I'd never use an impact on a tap, never mind using a tap with an impact gun to drive a component off. Its just so wtf.

Yeah pretty much!! Just apply some oil on your brake pads when you're done.

Some how they took the same technology in and which applies automatic transmission clutch packs, then turned it into brakes!

Also motorcycle chutches, but then again, clutch and brake are practically same thing, just operated differently.

Those brakes are the same as a multi plate clutch. Many aircraft brakes are the same way.

Yeah the idea is if you have a diff in the wheels then you can reduce the size of the axle diff which gets you more ground clearance

@@reecewharf The diff would still be in the center, thats just the final drive in the wheelhub. Keeps the required axle size lower, lighter and therefore less rotating mass

A word of advice. When applying flange sealant around bolt holes it needs to be applied around the inside of the hole. This in turn makes sure no leaks are created at bolt shaft.

Thanks . I tri to see and learn as much as posible, i watch allot of heavy machinery and truck repair videos , i like welding to . And it helpt me deside if this is the right job for me and it turns out , it is . I welded about 6 times alrady , still learning and geting beter ad it . I like working whit my hands, i alwais hade a pashion for petrol and diesel engines . Office work and siting on a chair and doing paper work never realy interested me , i allwais liked tools and power tools and trucks and mechanic work , welding ... i watch a youtobe chanel cold western truck and tractor repair evry day as well as farming fixing and fabrication and newman tractor and diesel program videos . I'm going away in September for my heavy duty mechanics, I normally work on smaller regular vehicles I like working on vehicles I figured I might as well step up and go for heavy duty mechanics because I enjoy hard work especially on cars I have worked 13 hours alone working on my truck just replacing the oil cooler line, I had to drop the front differential to get clearance to my oil cooler line and I finally got it done I didn't have a transmission jack so it was a struggle reinstalling the front differential , I also spent 15 hours helping install a lift kit on friends family member truck

I am here because I just did head gaskets on a Duramax and want a reminder why I do this instead of what you guys do. You had more steps to pull the brake off than I did to remove the cab lol.

I have done that too to B30E. Very well build axles, from maintenance point of view. Those had faulty seals at brake pistons, and Bell delivered new ones under extented warranty.

I learned to drive the Doosan DA30 articulated Trucks. It was fun, but we would always get stuck given the type of work we were doing. I always read the owners manual to get familiar with the machine.

I'm a snowcat mechanic. Our snowcats have similar torque hub (minus the axle) and hydraulic brakes. Much smaller scale though. Nothing like rebuilding a torque hub assembly on the side of a mountain in a raging blizzard...

I've never seen an Artic that clean. They are usually caked with a mix of mud, grease and fine rock pieces that have congealed to the consistency of concrete.

This is great. First time I got to peek into these type of brakes. Thanks for the insight! The vehicle seemed supported by 2x jack stands and a bottle jack. What kind of jack stands are those? They sure seem plenty strong.

Those Allen bolts are a huge pain in The Who Ha ! A lot of times those seal disks get warped from excessive heat then the lapped surfaces ain’t worth a shit lol! Nice video thanks for sharing 👍

Those brakes are very similar to aircraft brakes. Didn't expect to see that, but it makes sense.

I just got done watching a video on automatic transmission teardown and similarly they have alternant friction and steel disks in the clutch packs

It's basically the same method of applying something. In a trans they apply a certain gear, in this is just applys the brakes. Very cool and most likely efficient and robust setup. Clutches are quite durable and this is a simple setup, just everything is big so it looks hard.

been working on tractor trailer units for a bit now, never in my wildest dream would i have figured out how to replace these brakes unless someone showed me lmao
