We Rescued A Sick Kitty

We found a very sick kitty in our backyard, and are doing our best to help it out. (Also, we've fallen in love with the kitty.)

That was what I had to do after getting two month old feral weighing 8 oz. Bottle feed for two weeks while his strength returned. I was told 'not to get too attached ' he might not make it. Well Otto made it and is now 9 years old weighing in at 17 lbs! Good luck to you all 😻

Kevin, this warms my heart so deeply!!! I also live out in the country in the state of Georgia. Years ago, my daughter and I rescued a mama cat and four kittens from a trash dumpster not far from our home. This was in 1994. Thankfully they were not in the deplorable shape that you found little Binkey, but they needed care and a home. We found a home for the mama cat and two of the kittens and we kept two of the kittens for ourselves. These two kittens became house cats at our home and they lived to be almost 18 years old. They were the joy of our lives and we loved them and they loved us so much!!! To me, the absolute measure of a human’s true worth is how they treat animals-Kevin, you and Mr. Fox are exceptional humans!!! Thank you immeasurably for rescuing this mama cat and her surviving kitten!!! God bless you both!!!

I have 16 cats and 5 dogs. The last two cats that showed up the beginning of this year, were "dump offs". All the dogs were "dump offs". The one cat is a Tonkinese. When you live on a farm, people just figure the farmers will take the animals in. I've lost track of all the animals we've taken in in the past 32 years. Thank you for saving her.

She was a rescue ferrell kitten from GA, taken in by a foster mom, spayed, vaccinated and sent to NHSPCA where I found her. She is shy, but totally sweet and just came over and gently mouthed my fingers. We are working up to purring :-) I'm home all the time, so can give her lots of love and attention. What a little sweetheart. I would love to see lots of cat videos. Over 60 years ago when we were first married , one night it was dark, but a knock at the door. A boy said this tiny kitten was found in their garage. He was smaller than Binky and had a broken tail. He was a wee tabby. I desperately wanted him but the boy said he had to take him around the neighbours. Later another knock, and he was ours. I was in bed a lot sick as pregnant and he would lie on my chest and suck spirals of wool in the top blanket. How I loved him. All the neighbours loved him too. I wish he could have lived forever.

Congratulations on becoming a Kitty Mom., tt is quite a commitment , just like having human newborn, round the clock care and feeding and loving.I have raised a couple of litters of tiny motherless kittens. We live in the country and a feral cat adopted us and had her kittens in a crate we preppared for her. One day about a week after they were born, I heard them crying loudly in distress. The mother was gone and never returned, their litte bladders were distended like a big blister on the tummy.. fortunately I had had some “training” on what to do from a friend who took in abandoned litters. The mother cat licks them to stimulate elimination because they have not developed that function yet. We used warm water and paper towels to wash their bottoma after each feeding. I did not know about KMR, but i made a formula of diluted evaporated milk 1part milk, 3 parts water plus plain gelatin disolved in water..and bottle fed 6 kittens. They thrived and it was easy to find forever homes for them. everyone wanted to bottle feed a kitten, it seemed.. they were eating pureed food and only having a few bottle feedings to supplement and for emotional comfort.. The big problem was their extreme need to nurse on their mother!! they were not hungry, but sucked on everything, especially each other’s ears..I tried making pacifiers for them, but no, they wanted the real thing. They sucked and kneaded on our hands, our clothes and cried all the time. to comfort them I would warm a towel in the dryer, then wrap the kitten in it and hold it close until it went to sleep. and gently lay it back in the crib still in the towel. What a tremendous fuss over a “kitty titty” or the lack thereof. They all did well in their new homes and grew up big and happy. 🐾🐾🐱🐱🍼🍼💕

Beautiful of You and your Spouse taking care of this fur baby and Mommy. We had a stray out here and she had 3 kittens and we built them a home (outdoors) for all of them. Mommy could come and go as she pleased. We helped feed them and they were safe from rain as well. Mommy crossed the street and got hit by a car and died. Can not put in to words how much that hurt. So we had to take babies inside as they were only 2 weeks old. So now these little balls of energy have taken over our house!! LOL They are strong, happy, and healthy. Eight weeks old now and I still give them a nighttime feeding at 3 am. We will be keeping them all :) Good luck with your extended fur family :)
