Great project… smart thinking with the gloss paint on the ceiling. In kitchens (dirty too) and bathrooms, semigloss or gloss works best- easy to clean and maintain. 👏🏻👏🏻

No plans to change the vent. We will wait and see how it is cooking in there.

18:24 of the video; I have semi-gloss in my AZ house kitchen and it is orders-of-magnitude easier to clean than the walls/ceilings of my WA house kitchen that has flat paint. You answered my Range Hood venting question as you explained the reason for gloss, and venting with your screened window/slider and fan.

Lots of progress! Are you planning on installing an exhaust hood above the cooking area? The reason I mentioned is that otherwise, grease buildup might occur over time. This is from our experience here cooking outside (in the heat/sauna that is summer in Dubai!). All in all, it's going to give you a lot more usable space! 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍

@smartbiz888 I'm installing a simple oscillating fan. No plans for an exhsust fan. That may change over time.

@buildingthephilippines Good power is there, so no issue if you decide to add later... 👍☺️👍

Before you mentioned the antiques display wall breaking up the "hospital look", I was thinking I'd find some talented local artist(s) to create an island/tropical mural on such an inviting canvas. I'm really enjoying these project videos!

After the antiques go up, will see how much wall space we have left.

Looking great ! But , One of my beefs with hardiflex finishing is the habit here of not using a sanding block behind the sandpaper which makes for a much flatter surface. Using hand/finger pressure usually results in uneven pressure and not getting the flattest finish which causes shadows that show lines and bumps. Also requires extra sanding , time , and touch up.

I agree with that assessment as it makes sense. Thanks for commenting.

You can add an exhaust fan by the window area, it can help to move the air in and out.

No electric by that area. Thanks for watching.

If you grind the heads what holds the harty board to grids.

Just grind the tips and you will be fine. That's the process here as I understand it.

He said it painted with the white; but since he uses the rust inhibitors on most things, it’s a maintenance issue of keeping up on it and repainting. 🤔😉

Or, replaced the little window with a wide one for proper ventilation.
@buildingthephilippines5 ай бұрын
The windows here are embedded in concrete and rebar. Lots of work and cost to chip out all that concrete.

Coming along great! Don't you hate it when your OCD kicks in, when you see those little cracks in the concrete? 😂🤣 Usually, from what I'm told, the cracks form when the concrete (rendering) cures, dries and shrinks. I've looked at several houses that had those small cracks in the walls. Every one of the builders tell me the same thing. Of course, they will take care of the cracks, should we decide to buy, but your back wall isn't unique. Starlink? 😲 You're not going to know what to do with steady internet signal! 😂🤣 👍
@buildingthephilippines5 ай бұрын
Yeah, seems like the skim coat cracks way more then just rendered concrete. Probably dried too quickly. Starlink has been great so far.

wilma keeps the cleanest dirty kitchen a person will ever see. do they have WIFI and or motion activated light switches there ? (in california) i have alexa and all the lights and door locks setup to go on and off automatically and will lock when i say good night . looked on lazada and shopee but not sure the quality is good. i also found out (in my 5 year plan per your suggestion) that our Ring brand cameras may not work there because they will only allow cloud recording with a monthly subscription not available in the philippines.. i will bring our base station and a camera and try to use with a vpn as a test on our next trip.... what ccty brand are you using? the guys are doing a great job and looks very clean .
@buildingthephilippines5 ай бұрын
Clean kitchen, ni dirty kitchens. Our ring works with subscription. Just don't change your address from the US, in the account. No VPN needed. We us TP-link for security cameras.
@salomejoyce47315 ай бұрын
😂that is not a dirty kitchen if it is connected to the house! Dirty kitchen suppose to be built separate from the house like 5 to 10 meters away, and have a small table in it.
@buildingthephilippines5 ай бұрын
Why be separate, so when it rains you get wet. Cook your food 10 meters from your house, so you have to carry food another distance back to the house. It's like building your garage away from your house.

have you ever considered an epoxy floor?

We did, but decided to go to tile route. The concrete was a bit uneven in some places and wanted to even things out.
