Everyone’s bashing on them for not coming out with a turbo when 95% of the people out there and me included aren’t even pushing the stock sled past it’s limits. Next year will be a turbo year and the changes they made will make next years sled that much better and reliable.
@nsa6790
@nsa6790 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no. Next year won’t be a turbo year, and if it is don’t buy one because it’s going to be incredibly unreliable. Doo had time to test the turbo on the 900 ace first and the 850 was originally built to have a turbo. The 850 patriot wasn’t built with a turbo in mind so they’d have to adapt it or make a new one all of which takes more than 1 year of r&d. Sorry but doo once again like always leads Polaris in innovation. Better luck next time.

Short tunnel sleds are fun but they are pretty rowdy and definetely not for everyone. If you want a playful sled a standard tunnel Khaos is better machine for 98% of riders.

I don't really get it when Burandt says the ski-doo chassis doesn't do a good enough job of keeping the front down and then Polaris markets the Khoas specifically to not keep the front down. Anyway, my armchair expert take is that they're great sleds as usual but we've struck a tight year for Polaris capex.

AWESOMEEEEEEEE!!! Thanks for putting this video together explaining the differences between the sled! My question is: Why is Polaris make a 163” & a 165" skid? instead of consolidating their efforts into one skid? I cant imagine the ±2" in either direction really makes a difference or am I wrong?

Polaris new series 8 track has a pitch of 3.5 inches which means the track length has to be 165 or 3.5 inches shorter would make it a 161.5, which I think would be too close to a 155 length. Because of the design of the track it has 14 less paddles and 7 less reinforcing rods making the track lighter allowing the track to accelerate quicker and have a greater top speed.
@anthonywunderlich3681

Just another BNG year under the belts of the Polaris engineering and development team. Come on you guys be leaders in the field for a change, these tiny morsels that you're offering at a premium price are becoming less interesting to your loyal customers when a company like Ski-Doo is just plainly out performing your R&D team hands down. Polaris really needed to come to the table with a turbo sled instead of just ignoring skidoos challenge of being the dominant manufacturer.
@CDX7
@CDX7 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think Polaris cares all that much. They probably spend FAR less on R&D than Ski Doo and it's just a costs equation. For example Ski Doo might spend 2 mil a year and then sells 2.3 mil in sales. Polaris spends 1 mil and then sells 1.5 mil. (these are obviously wrong numbers but the point stands). It's crazy Polaris even competes at all... they are way behind the engine tech but still manage to put out great engines that matter in the ways that snowmobilers care about. The RMK's compete, the Assault is the best, the Axys has the best front end. They do well in the ways that matter. There will be a turbo in a few years and it will be better than the Doo in, again, the ways that matter to the snowmobilers.

Less rotating mass, less sled weight, less paddle=quicker acceleration of the track and the sled, less trenching, and less gyroscopic forces would be some of the obvious advantages of the new track design.

@@TheBCSledder (47x3.5=164.5) I am sure Polaris is rounding up the number to 165. It could have been a 161 or a 168 also. Both values seem to be too close to 155 or 174 size. The 165 is the logical size to build to in my estimation.
