As an immigrant myself when I got my green card through a work visa I had to sign a document saying I wouldn't be applying for any government social programs (aka I wouldnt be a burden to the country) and if I did it would affect my eligibility for citizenship in the future. I know asylum seekers are different as they are escaping a certain situation, but the law is very specific as to under what circumstances someone is elegible for asylum. The problem is many of the people coming to the border claim they come seeking asylum and dont meet such requirements. Like Hondurans, they had to prove they most likely would be killed if they were to sent back to their country. most people crossing the border were not in such an inminent danger.

As someone who was actually there tonight I can say that the whole "meeting" was a political setup for the cameras. The auditorium was not full like they claim. You could even briefly see it at 0:11. The front row was filled with non residents who were already present when they allowed people to go in. This same row of people were the only ones cheering for the politicians. They're most likely apart of the teachers union or paid actors. For anyone watching just know this was not a meeting for the community, but an act to appear like they care and most likely used to forward whatever their agenda may be.

I have never seen a camp for our Veterans or the homeless before they were migrants . They never start with the intention however it always turns out to be years and years or permanent . Take care of Americans first !!!

Contrary to popular belief, we do have programs for veterans who suffers financially or is homeless. Every active duty base in the US has a homeless shelter for veterans only that helps them apply for VA benefits and disability and helps them apply for federal, state, and contract jobs. They help manage your income, spending habits, and drug and alcohol addictions while you stay there. To eligible you must be registered as a military veteran. Veteran status is given once you served 4 years active duty or 12 months combat deployment. There is a hotline that you can look up on google if you are a veteran and is homeless. Not saying all vets are faking, but when I see a homeless vet I call the hotline on their behalf to get them the help they need. If the program doesn’t want to accept them, then it is simply they are not a military veteran and must serve more active duty time or need to get a combat deployment under their belt. Hope this helps clear some misconceptions about homelessness for veterans.

Whatever your opinions on these shelters, most of the migrants are not selfish, they're just looking for a better life. You can criticize and vote against the politicians or laws that encourage migrant housing but you shouldn't villainize the people coming over.
