Awesome videos, love the content, we sail on Sun this December. One thing with the name on the Screen outide the door, we were able to change the name pre-cruise in the medallion app, there was a spot to change the display name as well as preferred name or how you want the cruise to address you.

I love the idea of the Sun Princess's removal of the veranda lighting, because I like to leave my drapes open at night to wake up to the morning light/or to leave our veranda door open to hear the ocean. Thus our neighbor's veranda light causes a true sensory disruption since their lighting is clearly seen over the top of most veranda's with that top 1 foot or so gap. Great review and a lovely improved veranda offering since the sofa is much larger than the norm. Oh and yes, I agree with you Jarad, to not have a footstool on both the veranda chairs and/or at the interior desk area, is a real let down. Cheers to you both !!! m.

That door key seems like a tracker so the ship can track wat you do and whenALL OVER THE SHIP. Its like an airtag. They probably use it to track guest behavior. A bit invasive imo

False, it shows up the whole time! Walk down the hall and check it out. I checked out who was next to me last cruise, they were also by themselves, and it was a guy. So I knew exactly who was being noisy!

I found a person’s medallion in the laundry room and took it to customer services desk and they just said thanks. What if that person didn’t know it was missing. The medallion like cruise cards have your name on them.

We have cruised on the Discovery Princess as well as the Majestic Princess, both of which are Royal Class ships. The names light up on the monitor outside your cabin when you are entering and exiting your cabin only. They are not on display all of the time. We currently have future bookings on the Sun as a B2B in Oct and Nov as well as a B2B in January.

What's the size of the cabin (square feet)? As far as names go, when I first started cruising, your full first and last name was displayed on a card they placed at your cabin door (like a nameplate). Status was reflected in the card as well iirc.

We were on back to back on sky princess in December. On the first week they had everyones full last name and first initial. On 2nd week they changed it to first name last initial

There is a hook on the BR door where you can temporarily hang your towel. Just open the shower door a little bit and grab that towel. This should not be difficult for an able-bodied person. With a little bit more dexterity, you can also pull the towel from the bar on the door after it is partly open. I don't know why you were referring to the shower stall as bathroom.

I did try the hook on the back of the door and it worked ok! Now just to remember to place my towel on the hook before getting in the shower. 😅

@@JJCruise , where do you hang your towel at home? The cabin size and shape, and the small bathroom, are all compromises to fit more cabins. On one hand, this increases the revenues, OTOH, the cabin's cost may be lower. I don't know if you are aware; each cruise costs the company several million dollars and the ships are bought with borrowed money (a rumored cost for SP was over $1B). This is not an easy business to run.

We know some cruise lines choose to cram more cabins and more people onto one ship while others decide to have higher prices with less guests as we’ve sailed on over 70 cruises, on over 45 different cruise ships across numerous different cruise lines. Running a business is hard, yet executives get plenty of money for their hard work so we aren’t too worried of hurting their feelings. 😉

Why do you call it a deluxe ocean view stateroom when it’s a balcony stateroom? I cruised on Ruby Princess recently and what I found most annoying about my stateroom was the motion detector light in the walk in closet. It kept going out when I was trying to find my clothes etc. Is this happening in your walk in closet? Also, are they still suppling a shampoo/ conditioner combo instead of separate shampoo and conditioner? Thanks for the review of this stateroom on this new ship. It was very informative and interesting.

Someone knowing your name or cabin number isn't a safety concern. Heck, when phone books still existed, you had a book of everyone's name, address, and phone number in your city, right in the palm of your hand. Princess has been doing this for years and it hasn't gotten anyone murdered.

Here the thing with the names, I travel alone. Having my name on the door has never bothered me. Because 1- I am not answering the door for any strangers! If I called room service, fine otherwise your not getting in. 2- say someone was looking to find you, there are a lot of cabins, and a lot of decks! Unless someone is going to walk every hall and look on every door to find your name they are not likely to find you. Just don’t tell people what deck you are on, problem solved! You are more likely to be harmed by the person traveling with you, than someone crazy person on the ship, not that that never happens, but it usually the one your with! Now if you are J&J cruise it might be different, because people could actually BE looking to find you. But otherwise I have yet to see it as a problem.

Of note the narrow hallway and closet doors can work in your favor if you’re on a busy or noisy hall way .. i.e. close to an elevator or stairwell (other highly active area).. before going to bed.. open all the closet doors (if it’s rocky use towels to secure the door in the open position). It literally helps reduce the noise from the hallway getting to your bed (sleeping area) the doors act as noise cancellation devices :-)

That is not a safety concern in my book. Princess has been displaying names for YEARS; previously on a printed name card. This new-age mentality that someone knowing your name makes you unsafe is completely ridiculous. Does the door have a lock on it? If so, you're good. At home, your neighbors know who you are, and other people can google your address, or follow you home just the same.... Again, if your house has a lock on it, you're good. If it were really a concern or if it had led to problems, Princess would have nixed the cabin name tags back 20 years ago.

No light on your balcony is a big mistake, if someone wants to be outside to have a nightcap or read it means the lights have to stay on in the cabin not good if their partner wants to sleep, and your name on the door at first glance seems nice, but in reality is a terrible idea, particularly for solo female guests, well for everyone actually, as the boys have said there are people who think cruise ships are pick up joints and good luck to them if it works out for them, not such a good idea for those of us who don’t think that way

I completely agree on our names displaying on the screen outside the cabin. I sailed on Princess with my sisters, a niece, and a friend in January. We had two cabins, side by side. I seemed to be the only one in the group who was uneasy about our names being displayed to the public. As you said, it's a safety issue. Someone in the comments mentioned we can request our names be removed. I'm happy to know we can do that if we go on Princess again.

Every Princess ship with the Medallions (which is now all the ships) features the passenger's names on the door to the cabin. There are plenty of good reasons for this.
