yes, it is obstructed view. It would be like going to a theatre and you are in balcony and can't see part of the stage.

I would be quite upset if I had this cabin. You can’t see the water. We sail on the Apex this next week. We’re in an aqua class and pray there isn’t any barriers to the view.

We just had the same experience as you guys (2 cabins down from yours) on our first Celebrity Cruise and were given the same rigamarole by Guest Services. After sharing photos of our view and requesting OBC or something to compensate, they said they couldn’t do anything because you can technically see the ocean when standing/upon entering the cabin. I was so appalled by the terrible customer service that it soured the trip and now we won’t sail with them again. I even checked all the maps/layouts of the ship to make sure there could be no possible blockages 😅

I love Celebrity but they’re wrong on this issue. That is definitely an obstructed view and should be listed as such when booking.

Hey guys! I'm sorry, Celebrity got this one wrong. We've sailed on 5 of Celebrity's ship in the last year, 4 of which were Edge class and another in 2 weeks (Ascent). We have stayed on deck 6 in an 'obstructed infinite balcony', and let me tell you, your cabin seems MORE obstructed than ours. Love your channel!

Not really obstructive because, it doesn’t block the window, by definition. Do your homework- deck 6 has this view because deck 5 has the life boats -still a great deck to take steps down for Al Baccio coffee

Not a fan of the infinite cabins! Open that window and cabin gets warm! I don’t care about the space! I love balconies!!

Do they consider cabins that have the life boats not in front of, but obstructing the floor below, and here under the window, as obstructed? The "not being able to look down and see the "water" would be the same, wouldn't it?

6:37 Not okay to say this, like we need to be glad. As a solo traveller we pay above and beyond on all lines. We get a room that is smaller and get the not so good locations if I decide to book a solo room. Cruiselines want our money, both won't give us rooms in good locations. As for your roomon this ship, partially obstructed.

Yes absolutely it’s obstructed. Other cruise lines like Royal with rooms that have lifeboats at that bottom level are considered obstructed. In fact I’ve been looking at those room types recently.

This is a difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. The letter of the law may deem it is unobstructed but the spirit of the law points to obstructed. Celebrity can define the cabin as unobstructed based on a technical definition but ANYONE sitting in that cabin will feel it is partially obstructed. This is what I hate about cruise lines - they get away with way too much. People need to speak to them with their pockets - or in doing what you both are doing - educating people so they don't feel "cheated". Good job guys!

It’s obstructed. Celebrity just trying to change what people think an unobstructed view is as they know a lot of people are new to cruising and are not aware of the traditional cruising definition of what an unobstructed view is. Having said that I loved my transpacific cruise on the Edge in a solo balcony on deck 6. I just do not appreciate what Celebrity is trying to do.

If i were a travel agent and I knew this about these Cabins.. even if Celebrity Says they’re not obstructed I would warn my clients that they are partially obstructed.

Not a newbie (50+ cruises), so unobstructed should be NO obstruction! When you can't look directly down and out over the water, the view is obstructed. 10%? Nyet! 50%! With half of my sea-view gone, so is half the joy of BEING on the cruise, especially on long-hauls. PS Love you guys. Fun and informative.

That’s obstructive. We like the aft facing balconies, the only true balcony cabins other than Retreat class.

It is obstructed. I personally enjoy watching sail away from my balcony/veranda, which includes being able to see the lines being taken in and waving to the people on the docks. It doesn't seem like I would be able to do that from this cabin.

It’s obstructed. This is why I always look at the floor plans before booking. I’d love infinite verandas if I had the chance to sail the edge class that’s what I would book. Even in the Caribbean it wouldn’t bother me because I’m always cold 😬
