Hi from Tasmania My mum and dad were newly married and had just built a new home the first new house my mum had ever lived in and dad got a promotion to be the forestry ranger on Bruny island and mum didn’t want to leave her new home so dad declined his promotion and on the day that dad would have gone to have a look at the new job the panel van had an accident and a lawnmower went through the front set where dad would have been sitting and I would never had known my dad as I wasn’t yet born by 2 months and I am 63 now. As always it was a great video! I'm amazed by the drone shots, when we're sailing in croatia i always tried it, but i wasn't comfortable to fly the drone in 15+ knots, now i have a Dji air 3, we'll see what she can do in the summer. I'm wondering how you release and catch the drone in these conditions!
@KristinasTravels9 ай бұрын
Hey mate, John here, we just catch it by hand, but if we were more organised we’d buy one of the catch handles off of eBay and a pair of fishing gloves or similar so you can grab it without putting your hands near the rotors. We haven’t lost a drone yet but that’s usually because we avoid filming while underway 😆 enjoy the sailing this summer and good luck with the drone-ing! JT

@@KristinasTravels Thanks John for the quick response! I remember that crash story. I think it was Mentour did a piece on it. You were so lucky to have the experience to know the load out didn't look right. As far as the use by dates, for cheese especially, as the good stuff has been aged for months or years what is an extra few days. For most products, the date is set by regulation, or by test results, (it was still good after x days so we can date it at least that far out) or by when tasters can detect is isn't absolutely perfect. Not fit to eat is almost always a fair bit past the use by date except for things like raw meat cuts and fresh prepared things like salads. Watch, but be chill. My motto, if in doubt chuck it out.

I used to be a high end gourmet cheese marketer and salesman. You can eat that stuff till it's either, liquid, riddled with mould inside and out, or simply has become too aged for your palate. Good quality cheeses are basically active culture. Good until the culture is dead. That happens quickly in highly processed, low quality supermarket style packaged stuff.

I had an experience somewhat similar to John. In my early days in the RAAF I was due to be posted from one base to another in a different state. Often in those days ground crew like me would be rewarded with a flight in one of the Squadron’s aircraft. So the pilot’s organised a flight and came to tell me the time and date. Unfortunately I was already busy that day doing my removal from my home. They only had this one available flight so I had to decline the offer. One of my workmates who had only recently been posted in having just joined the Air Force asked if he could take my place. The pilot agreed to this. So the following week on the day of my removal I was at home organising the removalists, we were listening to the local radio when a news break announced there’d been an aircraft crash out at the base. So I rang work to find out what happened. My boss told me that both guys on board the aircraft were killed, including my workmate and the pilot that I also knew. I was devastated, especially as that should’ve been me aboard the aircraft. I understand how John must’ve felt at the time of his episode. Fate can be so unpredictable.

Hey, that was one very interesting story from John, so much so that I decided to do some sleuthing! Turns out the Nepalese government were asked by the UN to separate the Civil Aviation Authority, but they failed to do so for many years to the point where the EU placed bans on them! And as far as the sell-by dates, those are guides, not hard fast rules. I would eat, so long as it was palatable. Some cheeses rely on them being stored for some time to acquire a certain taste.
