@@Zett76 Oh I understand clearly. I also understand that scouts passed up on the recently crowned 3-Time MVP, to such an extent he got drafted during a Taco Bell commercial. Scouts aren't really a good metric for skills, as what they view as a player with potential is not exactly what coaches and other player view as a player with potential. -edit- Lazy is also repeating whatever retiric people and critics are saying online without seeing his game first hand and coming to your own conclusion. He's definite a player with a solid base and has pretty good upside, he definitely isn't Lebron, but he could have a decent career ahead of him as a role player and facilitator.

Sam Vecenie has given a really nuanced take on Bronny and the way he approaches talking about him as a player/prospect. For anyone that doesn’t know SV, he has my favorite podcast that mixes NBA w/ scouting stuff, and college, but it’s 99% how it relates to the NBA which is why I really enjoy it. I don’t really watch much college ball outside of March, and I could never listen to a scouting/college pod year round, he’s the only one who mixes it in a way where it’s a really good listen. It’s Game Theory w/ Sam Vecenie btw. Anyway, he’s been an evaluator for a decent amount of time at this point. He writes that massive draft guide every year at the athletic that’s like 100,000 words or something obscene like that. He’s basically said that if he didn’t think Bronny had a chance to be an NBA player, he’d just say whatever go play with your dad if you want…but he doesn’t feel that way. He thinks with more time developing he could be a legitimately good NBA role player. These comps aren’t his, but maybe Jevon Carter when he played every game for MIL in 22-23. Jevon didn’t end up in a good spot in Chicago this year with a billion guards, but he’s a small guard who defends well and can hit C&S 3s at a solid clip, as well as be a secondary ball handler. That’s what I could see Bronny being. Not trying to say he couldn’t be better than that, but that kind of archetype. Maybe like a Cason Wallace or something. It’s funny bc when people clearly don’t like him, they call him 6ft tall or w/e. He’s obviously shorter, but he measured in at 6’1.5” without shoes, which is around 6’3 with shoes. If you go look at combines when they used to show both, I’d say shoes on average added about 1.25in. If you look at the 18-19 combine for example…(these are all w/o shoes) Aaron Holiday 5’11.75”, Jevon Carter & Devonte Graham 6’0.25”, Sexton & Trae 6’0.5”, Brunson 6’1, then you have Melton & Simons at 6’2.25”. Melton could be a decent comp too. Bronny was 6’1.5”, 210lbs, 6’7.25” wingspan, 40.5in vert, then he did pretty well in the 3 drills that test agility, stop and start, shuffling your feet, basically drills that test how fast you are in ways that apply to the actual court especially on defense. There’s a 3 quarter sprint drill too that’s just straight line speed. Vecenie said in his opinion he should 1000% go back to college for at least one more year. He obviously didn’t get a full training camp, nor a normal season bc of the cardiac arrest. USC also used him kinda weird and the team wasn’t very good. He was saying that he just needs on ball reps badly and against good competition, but competition closer to his own level so he can actually grow. Guys like Smart and those defensive guards that are more secondary ball handlers in the NBA…they were basically all great ball handlers in college. To be a solid secondary ball handler in the NBA you need to be a really really good ball handler, and Bronny just isn’t that yet. He also obviously would benefit from as I said, a full training camp, then playing starter mins every night. If he did that and could show major progression handling the ball, hitting 3s, continuing to get stronger and show defensive versatility where he could defend 1s/2s and be good on and off ball, then he’d be infinitely more prepared for the NBA. I do like that Lebron is starting to separate himself from Bronny in terms of his bball career, not hyping him up all the time or constantly talking about wanting to play w him, and I’m glad Bronny made it clear he’s focused on himself. It does seem like he’ll end up in the league next year tho. I just hope whatever team drafts him (let’s be real it’ll almost certainly be LAL lol, prolly mid late 2nd round) realizes he’s gonna be a project. It’d be beneficial for him if he got signed for like 3 guaranteed years. You can sign second rounders to just like 2y with only one being gtd, etc. and that doesn’t seem ideal. When LeBron is gone you want to see a team still invested in his development, and the best way for that to happen is to have guaranteed $ invested in him. If he turns out to be awesome in his first cpl years, being on a 3y/6M deal with like a 4th year 2.5-3M team option actually is bad for his future earnings, but he’s young enough to where that isn’t a concern, and money isn’t really a huge object for him lol. So hopefully he does get signed to a deal like that, and hopefully he spends time in the G League early on when he almost certainly won’t be getting real NBA PT. The kid needs reps in live action and as many as he can get. Sorry for the long post. I’m not even a LAL fan or anything like that, I just find this pretty interesting. I always hope young guys do well in the league so I’m of course rooting for him. The faster he can at least knock down corner 3s at a good clip, and be a + defender against guards, the faster he will get real PT. If he can be a Cason Wallace type, that’s super valuable. Just ask LAL how much they miss Caruso
@Gamingwithdes23
@Gamingwithdes23 13 күн бұрын
You are right, he has a lot of untapped potential, I feel like his ceiling could be Westbrook if he really puts in the work. And his mid ceiling would be Davion Mitchell. But Bronny missed either his sophomore year or junior year due to injuries then got the heart problem. But he really has potential, I do hope he hits a growth spurt to at least 6’3.5 without shoes. With him being 6’1.5 basically 6’2 if you round up. If he grows 2 more inches to 6’3.5 if would be around 6’5 with shoes he can be a solid 2 guard.

@@Gamingwithdes23 yea the difference between even 6’2 and 6’4 is a pretty sizable one. If he grew from 6’1.5” without shoes to 6’3.5” or 6’3.75” without shoes that’d make a crazy difference. At that point he’s essentially 6’5, which if you’re athletic and strong with decent length, you can guard 1s/2s without issues and even switch on to a lot of 3s on defense…and on offense you can play the 2 very comfortably. Caruso measured at 6’4.5” with shoes, so likely around 6’3.25-6’3.5” without. It really does make a huge difference, and he’s young enough to where growing another 1.5in doesn’t even seem unlikely, though I’m not a doctor so lol. He can get by at his current height, but it’ll be harder. He will have to really get super strong but without losing much speed. Only time will tell.

@@BOnYTB exactly, you can’t teach height. When Giannis was drafted he was 6’9. He grew about 2-3 inches and stands at 6’11, 7’0. Even Lebron, he came in at 6’8 and he stands at 6’9. Some even say he’s probably 6’10. So it’s possible for Bronny honestly. It’ll be funny if when the draft is revisited he’ll be one of the steals from the draft and one of the great players from it. For some weird reason I feel that may happen

People act like Muggsy Bogues and Earl Boykins weren't in the NBA 🤣🤣 Also, people act like scouts are NEVER wrong 😂 There have been PLENTY of busts who were overhyped and celebrated while diamonds in the rough were overshadowed despite showing the Crystallized Skillsets: Draymond, Jokic, etc etc.

The fact that you had to go that far back, just to make a list of TWO players, is a nice little shot into your own knee. 😀 Smaller guys almost never make it. Although there are a whole lot more of them, than big ones. Plus: every expert can be wrong. But when you and he would predict the future of 500 players - he will be way more right than you would be. He gets paid A LOT for being right, and doing his job for many years. It's as simple as that. ...basically you're saying: The experts don't think he's nba material. But they could be wrong. Get him anyway. 😀

Y’all are delusional. Other than lottery picks for the most part most teams are punting on draft picks. Bronny didn’t really play in college and has elite athleticism so why not draft him with a second round pick which more often that not barely pays. There is no Wembayama, Tatum, or Zion in this draft. This is a weak draft.

I call bs on Bronny not wanting to get drafted only because he is Lebron’s son: if that’s the case then why enter the draft when you averaged 6 points in your first year in college and had a heart attack that same year? If you trully wanted to be drafter on your merits, wouldn’t you want to go back to college and prove yourself and give scouts and executives a legitimate reason to draft you for you?! Because as it stands, if he gets drafted, it’s mainly because of his last name Period. I don’t care how well he does in the combine and practices, if his name was Marcus Thomas son of a TSA agent at the John F Kennedy airport, with the first college year he had, I doubt he gets drafted let alone go to combines and showcase for NBA teams…

He may be a nice kid, but he's nowhere near ready to play in the NBA, and may never be. Virtually NO ONE would be talking about him at allat this point if his last name wasn't James. He was no better than the third-best guard on a mediocre team from a mediocre basketball conference. His stats were almost non-existant. Forcing into the NBA now will end any career he might have had.

WRONG. Any team with a brain is looking at him like a Michael porter jr. College doesn’t count cuz he was hurt and couldn’t get a groove. He hustled and played good defense. He made winning plays.
