We will be taking our 1st 3 month trip to 4 different areas of Portugal. I am a retired pensioner the wife and I love to travel, many countries so far. Now we want to focus on doing it cheaper. You folks have been a great inspiration we also found out our health care (blue cross) will reimburse us save receipts and submit. Question…do you buy travel insurance for the year or only countries that you research that may be kinda shaky if you understand what I mean? Thanks again you folks are great!

We don't use travel insurance, but we protect ourselves by reserving only refundable accommodations. We take some risk with our flights, but that's pretty much the only part we risk. Our travel credit card protects us from interrupted travel and gives us some benefits. Happy Journeys! You'll love traveling!!! John & Bev

What a great video. Romania is definitely on my bucket list. I'd love to see the wooden churches of Maramures, the painted monasteries in Bukovina, the fortified churches of Transylvania, and the medieval towns of Sibiu, Brasov, Sighisoara, and Biertan. You are creating a legacy that is far greater than any physical asset or material possession. You are fostering a love and curiosity for the planet we share. Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse into your adventures. May the Lord continue to bless you on your travels.

Thanks so much. Timisoara is our first city in Romania and we have loved it. We are fortunate that there is an international folk festival going on, which makes it even more special. Stay tuned as we spend the next month here ( note that our vlogs are always a few weeks behind our visits) Many blessings, John and Bev

Hi, So glad that you are traveling when you are healthy and can do it. I love to travel and have been traveling for many decades (when my kids were younger, then I will go to one country for 3 to 4 weeks at a time in summer). Now, I am mostly out of my home up to 6 months at a time. I work full time but can work remotely, so I work and travel. In the past 2 years, I have often thought and people suggested to sell everything, as you did, and just travel full time. However, the question always is: Why not rent your home and then travel, rather than selling your home? One day, if, for any reason, you can't travel, you have a place to get back to? It can generate some passive income. If the health goes down (can happen at 40, 50 or 80), then you have a home base? Or do you plan to rent/buy whenever you get back? I love kids and when one day, I have grandkids, I want them to be able to "come to Grandma's home", if I have a home base in USA and if I am unable to travel at that time (Grandma's home could be anywhere in the world - but if you are moving every week, then it may not feel like home). What are your plans if things go south - say Covid happened and everyone had to (or felt safer) to be back home. Also, I am curious as to why sell if you can rent, especially if rent can cover all the house expenses. I agree with extensive de-cluttering, and also it is very very hard - a daunting task indeed.
@RetirementTravelers

We lived in a golf community in Florida. It was very nice, but they had very restrictive rules about renting and we also had fairly high HOA and golf fees. Renting simply wasn't a good option for us because of those reasons. If we lived outside of that type of community, we certainly understand renting could be a good option. Thanks for sharing all these helpful tips, including photos and videos. I enjoyed every bit of it. I’ve been world traveler since 1983 on shoestring budget until to this day. What I’ve learned over the years is to minimize the tourist appearance when travelling. You might want to consider upgrading your t-shirt from white to different color to blend in the home country’s popular color or neutral color. Just a helpful suggestions to make you look more pro travelers 😁😊 🌎

I love the information in this video. Especially the fact that you get excellent medical care in Colombia! Based on insurance here in the US, we might have to make a trip. Also, question, is the World Showcase at Epcot similar to the World Expo in Dubai?! Asking for a friend ;-)
@RetirementTravelers
@RetirementTravelers 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Here is some info about the EXPO for your friend 😉. Epcot World Showcase is the same concept, but just not in the same league. Where Epcot has around 15 countries?, the EXPO had every country (192) represented in pavilions or buildings. The EXPO also had overall global themes of being the blueprint for the city of the future, sustainability, mobility, and connectivity. It has been awhile since we’ve been to EPCOT and we remember it as being nice. We were simply blown away at the technology, integration, future thinking and sheer magnitude of the EXPO. There is no doubt this was the nicest one ever. We had such a great experience, we have already planned on attending the next one in Osaka, Japan in 2025. John and Bev

Your videos provide good guidance as to what places to visit. I am 68 years old and just got back from a trip to central Europe. It is important to realize how good your health and mobility are, don't wait until you are too old to do it. Our group had an 80 year old man who had problems walking and his trip was very difficult. Although I am in a reasonable good shape, I realize that this window for traveling at my age has a time limit, and honestly I accepted it, but will continue traveling while I can. Your advise for downsizing is very sound. In my case I like to have a place that I can call home and where I can recharge and plan my next trip. We bought a small condo in Guatemala very appropriate for the 2 of us. The weather there is like spring most of the year and people are very friendly. Our son and grandchildren are in California and honestly I don't know how much they appreciate our travel sharing with them, but is ok ,maybe they will when they have a family. Please start selling your merchandise , the T shirts, I think is a good design and maybe you guys will design good travel gear for us seniors. Keep on Traveling

@@RetirementTravelers The place is in Zone 11 Guatemala City this area is currently expanding the construction of Condos. The prices are affordable even with a modest US retirement of 2600/month. The tourist areas are more expensive such as Atitlan and Antigua.. This area is very convenient for me since everything is close such as shopping, public transportation and even hospitals. Safety is better in this area (not perfect) than my old place of residence in Los Angles.

You guys are awesome. I love all your videos and for those people asking why not just travel instead of doing KZbin and social media -- I say imagine leaving something so positive and special for our grandchildren's children to watch that may inspire them to do and be the best version of themselves long before we are gone. What a gift. I love your channel and always look forward to your adventures! Much love =)

My husband & I have been kind of binging on your channel. Y’all are so interesting! We are 65yo full time RV travelers in a class A since 2019. We want to switch it up and incorporate about 3-4 mos of international travel per year but we haven’t ever been abroad with the exception of Caribbean countries. We also have 5 grown kids & 13 grand children. ❤

@@RetirementTravelers 1. I’m a lover of travel. 2. I value people who want their energy and resources going to experiences versus things. 3. I like that you value other countries and their people. 4. @@RetirementTravelers yes….. I can imagine it’s a grind to keep up a channel. Just idea generation alone would fatigue me! Do it as long as it can remain a net gain. I doubt any subscribes would fault you if you needed to step away…. Or vlog once a month… or, ???. One big benefit, which I imagine is hard to keep in mind, is all the people you help a little bit….or bring some measure of joy to. If like most channels, few subscribe--which is tough, but those people still gain, enjoy, and learn. Hope Bulgaria is treating you well. Triple digit heat, as usual, here in Fresno CA!

A very interesting video. The longest I've been away is 6 months. I often use HelpX as I love having a community when I arrive plus it is very economical for me. All the best on your travels! Cinque Terra brought back some wonderful memories!!
