We spent 16 days in Europe during Oct 2024 exploring Germany and Switzerland!
Here is a vlog I made to remember our days spent in Switzerland.
Our Itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Touch down at Frankfurt International Airport
Day 2: Leave Frankfurt and visit the museums in Stuttgart
Day 3: Arrive at Weggis, Switzerland and visit Rigi Kulm
Day 4: Day Trip from Weggis to Zurich
Day 5: Drive down to Tasch and take the train to Zermatt. Here we hiked from Gornergrat to Rotenboden
Day 6: Visiting Glacier Paradise and then hiking from Tocknerstag to Furi
Day 7: Finding out Sunnegga is closed so we went back to Rotenboden to complete our hike down to 'Zermatt
Day 8: We took the Lotschberg Tunnel again to arrive at Kandersteg and vist Oechinensee!
Day 9: Once we left Kandersteg, we rushed to Grindelwald First.
Day 10: Day Trip to Biel to visit the Omega Museum. Quick Stop over at Bern too!
Day 11: Drove to Brienz Rothorn to escape the low clouds/fog
Day 12: Enjoying the peace and quiet in Lauterbrunnen
Day 13: Driving off to Grindelwald again to get up to Jungfraujoch
Producing this vlog was difficult! Biggest mistakes were:
Lens choice: Thought the Sony 24mm F2.8 and 50mm F2.5 were going to be a light and easy carry set up during hikes but the changing of lenses was cumbersome and required too many steps. 24mm was not wide enough and 50mm was not tight enough at times. Should have stuck to 1 camera with 1 zoom lens for hiking.
If you're going to plan a trip to Switzerland in Autumn please take note:
Always look for closure dates in advance. There were so many excursions and rides that were down for maintenance during our visit in late October. Best is to go before late October to enjoy shoulder periods and having a good selection of activities that are still open.
