You two are intrepid travelers who do not let shortfalls hinder your adventures. I am so proud of your positive attitudes with that miniscule interior cabin. No way could my husband and I have stayed in there for even one day. It seemed too claustrophobic for us. This series was so much fun to watch because we wanted to go on a Windstar cruise when we were young but never got around to it and now too old for all of the steps. Thank you for showing us what a masted ship cruise involves.

Really glad you enjoyed it, the cabin was definitely a challenge but it was so worth it!

Why didn't you sleep upside down? Then your heads away from the lamps, ha ha. Love this video it's very interesting!

Lol, good point, but the pillows would have probably fallen off the end of the bed! 🤣🤣

Thanks for the video! Sounded like a great cruise, but would be a tough cabin. I had one on MSC that had room to walk to my side but did not have a nightstand for my stuff -- that you are missing too. I asked about getting a nightstand because there was space. The room steward said that he would ask others if they did not need theirs. What -- don't do that; everyone will be using theirs. Each night, I pushed the bed away from the wall to give me more room (this actually made it line up with the headboard), and each day the room steward would push it back. The room was nice with a forward-facing window (that we had not experienced before) and bunkbeds for the kids that were set into the wall, so we did not have to climb over or through them.

It was a fabulous cruise! Lol that is strange with MSC!

Oh goodness that bed arrangement looks like a complete nightmare. And also the shower, little bigger than a basin! Really glad to see this review - you’ve certainly taken one for the team there!

We definitely did, but that was are budget at the time, the cruise though was excellent, we definitely recommend but maybe not in that cabin 🤣

As I can only ever afford a single inside cabin the cabin would have suited me, but with your experience of some really beautiful balcony cabins, it must have been difficult. I really felt for Paul having to sleep underneath the bunk and against the wall !
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel16 күн бұрын
Agree it would be great for a solo, Paul did pick the short straw!
@FraserAtSea14 күн бұрын
I find these ships absolutely fascinating - great to see you both on there. The bed setup does make me scratch my head a little - I'd hate to be the second person on the bottom bunk tucked in against the wall with the top bed down - that much be SO claustrophobic!
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын
Thanks Fraser. This type of cruising was such a great experience, would definitely do it again, but pay the extra for a category 4 and we would split the double into twins. If you were travelling solo though this cabin would work!

I appreciate the candid review. I think alot of reviewers may skip over the parts with sitting on the toilet as some may think that is a personal subject and they don’t need a demonstration. I appreciate seeing Paul sit on the throne as it were, because it is something we would all need to experience (barring a week of constipation) 😮. I wonder if anyone has ever stayed in that cabin as a 3rd person. You better know them very well. And hope they don’t serve a lot of beans… In the Navy on my first ship the beds (racks) were stacked 3 high and we had 2x the headroom. Can’t imagine going through the week without busting your head open if that top bunk was down. 🤕
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын
It was definitely challenging but the actual cruise more than made up for it, but if we did it again which is very likely we would save a bit harder to get a better cabin, the image of a room full of sailors on a diet of beans refuses to leave my head. 😬😬
@Ted_K_Have_a_nice_day14 күн бұрын
@ well, luckily the diet on a Navy ship doesn’t only consist of beans. Although, it may be hard to tell the difference at times…🤔 (edited for spelling).

Thanks for the cabin tour! I do think that they provide some details on their website on cabin size, pictures and square footage, so for 108 sq feet you knew it was going to be small. I had a Cat 4 cabin when I sailed on her 2 years ago because that's as small as I would go. I thought that that size was just fine for 2 people, although there really wasn't much more storage space. We really didn't spend too much time in the cabin anyways. It was a fantastic cruise that I will always remember. Will be sailing on the Star Flyer in 2 months.

Yes we knew how big the cabin was but that was all our budget at the time would stretch to. But as you experienced we had a fabulous cruise

Hi both. Enjoyed the live again yesterday. Really like the royal clipper ship, love the locations you went to and the views you had but I don't know if I could cope with a cabin that small.

Hi guys....another informative video....for a week or 2 we could probably cope with this cabin....but as we generally travel for about 5 weeks at a time.(coming from Australia we like to get our money's worth out of our air fare..lol)...I'm not sure where we would store all our stuff...so we'd probably have to go a category up...love your work...😊
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын
Thanks! It would be hard to find 5 weeks worth, though you could keep a lot in the cases under the bed until you needed it!

I think everything you've said about this cabin is right. Its a good way to go on a cheaper budget. I like my space a bit more and don't know if I could cope with no windows. I dont like not knowing where I am. 😂 I would manage if It was the only way, but I think it probably would be worth just paying that extra for more space.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel16 күн бұрын
Thanks! Not having windows didn't really bother us, it was the dancing around each that was annoying! Though the ship experience was fabulous!

We don’t think we’d cope with that more than one night. It’s almost as bad as the cabin we had on an overnight Portsmouth-Caen ferry a couple of years ago and that was awful. The bathroom was great but it took up so much space there was only room for two small bunks. I took the top one and woke a couple of times teetering on the edge! Never again!

With the nightmare sleeping arrangements, did you not consider either : a. sleeping upside down with your head at the bottom, thereby negating the problems with the lamps, and/or b. dropping the top bed and having a bed each - negating the problems with the overhang? Personally, I would have slept on the upper deck on a sunbed. YOU BRAVE LITTLE SOLDIERS!!!
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel13 күн бұрын
Trying to get out of a bunk in the night would have been entertaining for sure, never considered sleeping the other way round. Guess we will never know if that would have worked. I do agree that we were very brave 🤣🤣
@hazels2714 күн бұрын
As a solo traveller that cabin would be ok for me. I don’t know how Paul lasted the week sleeping on the inside. The lamp placement is not only useless but dangerous as the lamp will get hot. The sail experience probably was fantastic, but they are not cheap ships, so I would expect something higher grade for the cabin. My friend has been on the Royal Clipper and the Star Clipper and had great holidays, but she went as a solo traveller.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын
Definitely fine for a solo. The lamp could be an easy fix too. Because the sailing experience is fabulous and we spent most of our time on deck or on land it was manageable for a week, just. Would definitely look at another catagory next time!

I know a few people who only take 2 sets of clothes with them on holiday/trips. They wear one and wash the dirty clothes in the evening leaving them to dry the following day. I hate to say they aren’t cruisers 😊(ramblers actually) so will never experience fine dining etc.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын

@laurenloveslv65514 күн бұрын
Flip, that is a teeny tiny cabin. Its badly designed having the bunk above. I would not be able to sleep in that confined space if the bunk was down, you would not be able to move at all. It must be very hot when you come out of the shower, hopefully they have a turbo extraction system. I don't know how I feel about inside cabins, you want to see the view and like you say, you have no idea what the weather is like outside until you leave your cabin. Certainly challenging but we appreciate your honest review.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын
The cabin temperature was great no issues there, just space. Though we leant to dance our way around the cabin lol!
@nocturn79114 күн бұрын
In a cabin of this size the provision of a third bed was truly excessive. I would have been curious to know when it was last used. Do budgetary considerations figure prominently on niche cruises? I suspect these cabins are the left-overs that only see the light of day (I get the irony here but I'm leaving it in!) when the ship is already heavily booked!
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel14 күн бұрын
We choose this type of cabin for our budget, but next time would save a bit more for a category 4 cabin that has a porthole and has an option of twin beds which would give us more room.
