Best of luck on your new chopper. I hope you have a good number of customers to help offset the cost. Miller Custom Farms is becoming a one stop shop for other farmers. I’m sure they prefer this to contracting with several companies. It’s good to buy something new and top of the line. Proves to your customers that your serious about this new endeavor and committed to be in for the long haul. Good Luck..,..,

A lot of custom jobs in Wayne county. Most all swept up by 3 or 4 companies That's a big undertaking buying that. For corn and hay the biggest company runs at least 2 choppers and who knows how many trailers or straight trucks. I'm sure you know them
@FarmingInsider3 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a big chunk to bite off. This first season will be a very big learning curve
@fedup35823 жыл бұрын
When you get to the job, will they have trucks or trailers to haul away the chopped material as fast as you can chop it, or will you be sitting waiting on them, or do you bring the hauling equipment with you?

Is it true that custom harvesting charge hasn't gone up much? I suppose one is getting more done in less time. So one can cover more acres to justify the added increase in equipment cost. Like John Deere million dollar combine. Have to cover a lot of acres to make it work.

I'd love to see a video explaining the economics of how you plan to make money with that machine. Interest, maintenance, insurance and depreciation are at least $100K a year. Meanwhile other small business fail or have to support you the "poor farmer" as we watch you spend $800000 on a piece of equipment you use sporadically. There are business's that cobble equipment together to try to make it through another year. But Hey it is what it is.... It is why Bill Gates owns all the farmland that he does.
