I think you two lovely human beings are having more of an adventure in boat repair and maintenance than in sailing - up to this point. I’m predicting you’re about to be slammed by a big wind, thus you will be catching up on the sailing adventure side of things very soon. You might think I just peeked ahead to your next video - and you would be right. Now I’m anxious to see how Millie, with your help handles the big wind.

For future reference, there is a product called JB Weld that many boaters carry, a 2 part epoxy that seals small cracks or holes in metal and many other materials. Its a temp fix but could have held long enough to get you to Grenada on schedule.
@philxdev4 жыл бұрын
can second that.. wanted to write the exact same thing and saw your comment.. JB weld is pretty good for this kind of stuff.. hey and if done properly it can (or I should say "could" depending on what to repair) even be more than just temporary;)

Khiara and Ben (Adam,), my daughter cracked up when Khiara spoke about the Ben thing,, as I am the guilty person that called Adam Ben.👍🤪 I shall explain... I had worked a 12 hr night shift and I was telling my old son Ben to stop being so hyperactive while my daughter and myself were watching their latest post, when I was writing a comment, at the time, owing to being super tied, I had a bit of a brain fade and called Adam Ben so from here on in, when Adam is being a bit nutty he is being a Ben🙀 👍🤪😳 so there UTubers, I've got mey 15 seconds of fame, and just for the record I would be proud if my daughter, when she gets old enough met someone like Adam and definitely not like Ben.. we as a family are wanting to become Patreons in the near future, just needing to get a few things in our live's sorted 1st.. we are pretty excited to become Patreons of this channel as soon as we can. Khiara and Adam are so genuine, I was a bit disappointed at Adam though when didn't give Khiara his shoes when she had a blow out, come on Ben, lift your game old son 🤪😳😀👍👍. im putting a challenge out there for all the people that watch this channel, lets as many people as we can give Adam and Khiara, say maybe, $10 - $20, I get that money can be tight but for those who can afford it, it’s just a price of a coffee and would go long way to help Khiara and Adam put together videos that always bring a smile.. Khiara and Adam deserve it, and just maybe Khiara could get herself a new pair of thongs 😀😁.(flip Flops) Here we have an awesome couple, in beautiful locations, bringing happiness to our TV's or screens , also, even when Khiara is hot, tied and sweaty he smile and positive attitude will still light up a whole city no matter what has gone wrong..👍😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Khiara and Adam, if you want to catch nice fish, you should watch the Sailing Nahoa episodes on how to catch fish from a sailboat. Ben has honed in the technique on how to do it on a consistent basis. Just go to their channel, click on videos and type fish in the search field, then the videos should appear. Good luck fishing.

When I used to go Mahi Mahi fishing off the Florida keys, we would always run along a sea-weed line, we would have 4 rods out, and when one would take the bait, within seconds the other lines would get hit, then it was a time trying to bring them all in. Mahi fishing always made a fun day.

It would be important to confirm that the oil pressure warning is working, lest in the future you seize your engine in the open ocean. Was the oil level totally empty, or do you reckon there was still some left and that the oil pump intake was still flush with oil? Does the oil pressure light come on during start, when oil pressure is naturally low? You should be able to check the oil pressure transducer with a multimeter, it should be grounded at low oil pressure/engine off and open circuit when under pressure (or vice versa).

Let me tell you a story about a Volvo 240 I once owned. The sump needs 4.0 quarts (about 4.2 Litres). When working 1000km from home I got the car serviced and the shop failed to refill the sump. They did thoughtfully put the sump plug back in. When I left the shop I departed immediately for home 1000km away. On the way I was aware of intermittent sucking noises. The oil warning light did not come on at any time except while starting the engine. 1000 km remember. I get home and two days later I decide to take the car to my mechanic to diagnose the sucking noise. He says "I know exactly what it is", which is always a preluded to the next thing he says which is "What sort of idiot are you?". Up goes the car on the hoist, under goes the oil collection pan, of comes the sump plug, out comes ... exactly 0.5 litres of oil. Yes, 0.5 litres. This is what kept the engine lubricated on the 1000km homeward drive. Sucking noises? the oil pump sucking air from the sump into the oil galleries. I would bet that the Volvo Penta marine engines had the same margin for error and would run on the smell of the oil rag. (I hope it is a Volvo Penta you have) True story.

Barracudas, the bane of caribbean sailors trying to catch fish. First tip: water less than 200 feet, just don't throw out a hook, you're sacrificing the lures to those nasty 'cuda teeth. Second: never fish at less than 4 knots, Mahi like 5, Wahoo 6-7, white marlin will take anything faster. Last tip (and the most important) Find the shade! You can throw out teasers and use live bait, but the only real methout to finding them is to drag your line 10 feet beside any shade. FAD, matt of sargasso or just a tide line. And don't tell anyone, but its black and red for the colour, rubber skirt plugs with a bubble head. Sssshhhh!
@SailingMillennialFalcon5 жыл бұрын
Fantastic, This is so helpful!! We’ve heard about the weeds/shade before but our lures just got caught in them rather than catching anything!! I’ve screen shot this and will try it all!

Watch out for the little 20 foot Anaconda ! Yes, need the name of that Dive Shop, share with everyone. The guy is a prince. You should start doing a slightly different type of Yoga. Its called Somantic Yoga, it concentrates on perfect stretches because that is most likely why your back went out. You have tight muscles. I used it to get my shoulder back in shape form after dislocating it. The doc said I needed therapy and I couldn't afford that, so I went to a Somantic Yoga class. She worked with me. I did it as I worked as a raft guide, kept me stretched perfectly and pain free. And yes, kudo's to the "mehanic" as she really did impress me . She's got the stuff ! Some of the boats to keep an eye out for , Gecko, and Holly, a young lady solo out there (wind hippie sailing) , might be close. And, believe it or not, another Holly, on Another Adventure , who also may be near. They were both in that Guadalope areal.

We really like the idea of folding bikes but I think I'd take up a lot of space on the boat.
