It was exactly 20 years ago today (12 Jan 2004) that me and my dad embarked at Southampton on the QM2 for her maiden voyage. I remember there being fabulous fire works at sail away and at each port we were treated like royalty - what an amazing experience. Dad is no longer with us and the QM2 has left me with such wonderful memories to look back on. Creating memories is what it is all about……thanks for the lovely vlogs. Niki x

You never disappoint bringing wonderful memories to us. My DH was born in Bristol to an RAF veteran and Canadian war bride. In 1951, at the age of 2, he emigrated to Canada with his Mum on the original Queen Mary to meet-up with his Dad in Saskatchewan. In October, 2004, I arranged a surprise 55th birthday cruise on QM2 for a 14-day Mediterranean cruise out of Southampton. Two weeks before our cruise, originally booking a verandah cabin, we were upgraded gratis to Queen's Grill. Suffice it to say, it was a cruise we will never forget. Truly memorable!

Cunard should build another Ocean Liner to replace the Queen Mary 2 in order to maintain future transatlantic crossings with a British flavour and tradition. I recommend the ship be named "Queen Freddie Mercury."

In Nov 2016, 5140 was our cabin on our first-ever cruise. Nothing like breaking your cruise teeth on the Queen Mary 2!! We were just about to leave for a 2-month stay in Spain when an e-mail came with a good price. We decided to just abandon our return flight (it was in the days when flights were ridiculously low), and booked our return journey on her. Loved that sheltered cabin, we could sit outside, even during inclement weather, and enjoy being close to the water! Hubby still talks of that trip and would like to do it again, if we can coordinate it as a part of our other travels.

Great video . Very nice cake, and the cream on top was the two bottles of thatchers. You are very spoiled, paul, lol.

It's hard to believe that Glasgow and Clydebank used to be the center of the world's shipbuilding builiding ships like the QEII while many countries in Europe supported the transformation of their shipbuilding yards like France, and Finland and Germany the UK government of the late 70s and early 80s decided that they should go to the wall to be replaced by shopping centers. Sad facts. A bucket list cruise shiip you've done twice 😂
