The little fish neat the sharks are Remora (Sucker fish) they feed of fish scraps fron the shark. They have a suction pad on the top of their head to stick to the shark, and get a free ride.

What an amazing experience. As you said at the beginning, it is one of those 'bucket list' places to be at least once in your lifetime. A few years back I saw a video someone had posted of Soneva Kiri, a top end luxury hotel resort in Thailand, that is phenomenal. They have two other locations which are in the Maldives. Looks like you guys had an great time.

It’s a lovely island chain, however if you’re not a sun sand and sea person, the Maldives can be totally boring! I’ve been there 3 times and that should be enough! I scuba dive and sail thus my many trips there! Enjoy guys!

Sorry, but it is far from a paradise. The Maldives is an environmental disaster. Try to see past the privileged hotel; resorts to the abject poverty and the lack of dealing with trash and other environments impact's that are killing the islands .
