My grandfather was born in Matera in 1898 . It was poor then. He was in the Italian army in the first World War when Italy was a Kingdom. Then he came to the U.S.A. after the war in the early 1920s. Stayed at Ellis Island. Had to denounce the King. Then it took him 5 years to be come a citizen. Now it looks so good , makes ME want to go back from where he left. Thanks for wonderful video.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy in April and are marking down all of the places from your videos!We are so excited! Thank for the incredible videos . I was wondering about Laura’s walking shoes - what brand ? Also your wide- leg pants love them but don’t know where I could find them. 😊
@goneagain.16 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for all the love! 😍 Laura's sneakers/trainers are usually from Naked Wolfe, they are some of the most comfortable ever. As for the wide-leg pants, can't look now as they're packed away with most of the summer clothing, but it's a smaller, independent English designer/brand. I'll update you here whenever I unpack them again, probably in about 6 weeks. 😄

You did a great job showing the beauty of Matera, especially at night. Aside from it being beautiful and magical, I believe that Mel Gibson selected it as the setting for his filming of the crucifixion in the Passion of the Christ because it resembles ancient Jerusalem. Hard to imagine a better place to film such a scene. P.S. No greater love than this exists, for a man to suffer terrible pain (to get a piercing) for his lady. 🤣

i saw your video about Salento a few days ago, and i liked them very much. I'm italian and i live in LA, but i own a small propriety in a small town in Salento. The funny thing is that sunday night ( 01/19/2025) i was in Mexico City in a restaurant in Condesa, and i think i saw you....Could be that possible? If yes the world is really small🙂

You should make a video about shitty places in Italy. Do they exist? In any case, I have to compliment you again. You improve your video editing every time and a lot! Also I love your humble and smart way of being tourists! Well done! Keep it up, don't change a thing!
@goneagain.16 күн бұрын
Not sure if there are shitty places, but there definitely are overrated places. Regardless, we'll definitely be honest with our viewers if there are things we don't enjoy about a destination 😃

Matera used to be regarded as a complete shithole by Italians up until like 50 years ago. It was a place where poor people lived in caves with their livestock. Now it’s a supercool and intimate gem of southern italy! My wife and kids and I love watching your videos. I was born in Monopoli and especially loved your Puglia content. Great job. Subscribed.

It's incredible and we wonder what other places will become the next gems of Italy!
