So cool to see that your kids are having such an awesome experience travelling around Japan. Loved the footage and music from the Ama-no-Yasukawara shrine. I visited Kyushu about 20 years ago. This video brings back some great memories of looking down into the smoldering , sulfur pools of Mt.Aso. Excellent video.👍👍

Thank you. We would have loved to go to the top but it wasn't safe so it is very cool you got to see in the volcano . I think it exploded again spectacularly last year too. The kids love Japan. Every day for months after we come back they ask when can we go back. 😂

Great caves and scenery. "I have never seen an active volcano, but I have been around for 8 years".....Love It 🤣♥️ Great Volcano activity. Great episode Shane, loved your editing and cinematic videography. See you on the next adventure. 🙏🏼🤗🤠👍🏼

Your channel is a really good find. The vlog is so endearing. Your daughter really steals the show. I love road trips but never thought of travelling to Japan. I thought it would be just too difficult and perhaps expensive. I have come in half way through your series so will have to make time to see some of your earlier movies. I love volcanic landscapes and it must have been very exciting to be near the action.
@ShaneNixonFamily2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Ivor! Yeah it is a very commonly thought that Japan is difficult and expensive. It is a lot easier now to get around than even 10 or 15 years ago. We've found it cheaper to travel around Japan than Australia. High end stuff, hotels and restaurants, can be expensive but everything else is a lot cheaper than Australia. The first time we we went we got around by train and car. These days we mostly use a car because it is more convenient for the more remote places (like Kyushu and Shikoku). Driving is pretty easy - same side of the road as us in the Oz and the UK - and the road signs are written in Japanese and English. Having said that if you've never been you should visit all the main places (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka etc) and they are all easily visited by public transport (parking is expensive in most of the cities anyway). Thank you for watching and I really hope you enjoy the rest of the Japanese videos. I have another 5 or 6 to come - Kurokawa Onsen, Nagasaki, Kobe and finally Tokyo. BTW, I noticed you have a bunch of Iceland videos. We've been meaning to visit for decades. There is a very very faint possibility next year so I will be definitely catching up with your videos 😀

Right, here we go. First off, love the random vending machine but the ghost people over the bridge is very cool. Do you know for a fact that the cows don’t care?? 🐄….you got the ferry to where? Bless you 😂. Those terraced fields are fascinating, 8 million people tried to get her out?…slight exaggeration??!!! Seriously though, it looks stunning, so different to anything over here. That bridge is really pretty, as is the river. As always Shane, I have to shout out your shots and look of your video, looks really good. The piled up rocks were amazing but just like playing Jenga, we’re you tempted to pull one out from near the bottom…or just kick them over? Really nice shots of your kids! Your Japanese is almost as good as your French!! Loved the drinking water thing. More random vending machine, excellent. Well that volcano is pretty impressive, we’ve seen Etna and Vesuvius smoking, we weren’t allowed to the top of Etna because of it. Your kids are getting such a great experience, it’s amazing. Love the blossoms but hoping you don’t get fried, we like your videos too much. I’m sure the cows know!!! Free toys in your cabin? We need to go there! Omg, that private onsen….wow! We can almost smell that steak…mmm. Giving oranges, a symbol of kindness, nice! Ok, fair play Shane, really loved that….but hey, scrap all that, we’ve just seen snowmen!!! Get that next video out soon!!!! Nice one 🍻

Vending machine video to come - Just vending machines 😁 Ghost people - trying to give it that Ghibli Spirited Away vibe.👻 I speak cow - although I might lose something in the translation with Japanese cows. Mostly they say please eat me.🥩 Bless you! That took me a sec 😂😂😂😂😂 8 million deities! You can fit more than 8 million fictional entities anywhere if you try hard enough👹👺 Knock over rocks? The temptation was real 😂 The kids even got in the final spit of water. I think they like that bit best 😂 Can you believe that there are about 30 countries where there are people still pondering what the weird Aussie was asking them. My favourite was asking someone in Spanish if they were hungry. Which is I think "tienes hambre". I said "tienes hombre". She gave me a really weird look. Etna and Vesuvius smoking would have been so cool. The time we visited Vesuvius it was cloudy for days so we didn't see it once. I tried to drive up it but ended up just driving around and around Naples. 🙄🤪🤡 We called the Forest Lodge the Christmas village because of the Christmas decorations. In April. It should be Christmas all year round. The Japanese love it. It has become quite big. In fact the traditional Christmas meal is KFC. I kid you not. One year JAL's in flight meal from Australia to Tokyo at Christmas was KFC. I so wanted to catch that flight. Now I feel like fried chicken. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really do appreciate it. 😍😀

Thank you! Now I'm jealous 😂 We would absolutely love to go back. Kyushu really is gorgeous and we barely scratched the surface. But it seems we won't get there in the short term. We're actually tempted to go to the north of Honshu next time - Tohoku. Next winter maybe. Jetstar not very forthcoming with deals lately though 😂 But still so much to see in Kyushu too... Beppu, Kagoshima, Fukuoka, Kumamoto... 😍

@@ShaneNixonFamily I honestly feel like I need to live a few years in Japan to thoroughly enjoy every part of it! Totes got you about the flights prices, we traded it with some frequent flyer points, bur it's most definitely not as affordable as it's pre-covid!
