In today's video, we redesign the Sinnoh Pokemon starters Piplup, Chimchar and Turtwig by switching their types around.

I think maybe the reason chimshore doesn't feel right is because you deviated from your design plan. The other two have a dramatically different silhouette, but chimshore basically ends up looking like a blue chimchar with some minor tweaks. It doesn't really succeed in breaking out of the original outline, and because of that feels like less of its own thing.

Yea, that's a good summary of it. I didn't want to give it a huge bubble hat, too similar to Piplup's, but I also tried the gigantic Atlantis mask look and it just didn't look right. Giving it a gigantic tail didn't feel right either. Couldn't quite find that sweet spot where it's bold enough without losing the core identity.

@@PrimalJort Only the primary types will be changed, correct? Maybe the Chimshore line should focus its design more on its fists and/or feet? Currently the clay esthetic is kinda just overlapping with Turtwick. ...At least, if my assumption about secondary typings holds. First video of yours I've been recommended.

Anyway, Pokérating! In general I don't like the shiny colors picked, but eh. Pipoke is very cyoot, 'nuff said. Also, how did you make the spikes look like spikes and not just shaded circles and cones? (Am bad @ drawing, lmao) Turtwick looks awesome, really like the lava tongue idea, but idk about the bubbles, especially the one in the middle (looks like a wart). Also find it funny how shelled fire-type 'mons all end up looking similar, especially palette-wise. Chimshore is the weakest, I agree. I always associated it more to Hanuman than Son Gokuu, personally, so maybe you could go for a more hindu vibe for the evos. I also would've made the stuff on the top of its head look more like seafoam (riverfoam?). The clay mask idea IS nice, though. Overall, gr8 job as always, jortman. And as always, I'd like to see non-trade evolutions for pokemon that otherwise evolve by trade (Like Poliwrath/Politoed or Slowbro/Slowking). And WAS THAT THE HOBBIT OF EIGHTYSEV-
