Please show your family making visits to your husband's mother. She is the only living grandparent they have left. They need to make special memories with her. That's a good drill being such a big family. Passports and valuable should always be in the backpack ready before you go to bed in a hotel or some place else so just in case of some emergency you can leave the room in a hurry in the middle of the night and you can concentrate on gathering the kids.

Glad it was a false alarm. This makes me remember some advice I heard. Always stay between the 3rd and 6th floor in a hotel. In the States, firetruck ladders reach only reach to the 3rd floor. You want to be in that sweet spot where the trucks can reach you, or you can easily take the stairs to help. Good instinct on taking the stairs. Since you have a big crew, might be a good idea to have a plan in case of emergency when traveling. God Bless

that is what happened to us in Ramadan hotel in Pennsylvania: loud alarm 'fire' I grapped my handbag (felt guilty since one should leave without break) and me and my husband and another German couple stood in pyjamas lonely in the entrance hall and the people at the desk wondered - it was a fire alarm by cigarettes in a room and all were used to that (besides us) - embarassing - nobody had emptied our hotel room luckily - but we did not receive such sweet comfort sweets next morning (and good we did not appear in the local paper in our PJs next day 🙂 )

Hello Lilly, I worked from 3.30am till 8.00pm In between I had a couple of hours break. I loved this video. Little Leon talks a lot and so does baby Lila. Your kids love the water. Here summer has started and so is the shark attacks. Yesterday a 13 year old got bitten all over his leg. and today a 3 metre shark has been spotted. This year I will stay home. As uni students it happened to us and when we returned to rooms valuables had been stolen & hotels took no responsibility for theft . Heard many, many similar stories of other disturbances designed to catch inexperienced travellers in Bangkok . Learnt pretty quickly to keep ALL essential valuables in backpacks & ready to grab when travelling .

DEFINITELY !!! Used to be a regular sort of scam in Bangkok hotels . You learn pretty quickly to be fully prepared having all valuables in backpack by the bed Pattern was : Disturb clients during night so that they would leave rooms in a panic often forgetting valuables ( passports, phones, laptops, jewellery etc etc ) Hotels would then take no responsibility for any stolen goods . This might have been genuine mistake but sounds pretty suss . Also , having to spend $50 surcharge when one room was already available seems rather poor customer service policy .
