I actually live near Tillicum Mall. Born and raised here my whole life. I can't believe they didn't show the petting zoo during their visit to beacon hill, or the drive in while they're at it.

Wonderful presentation of my hometown. BC Ferries buffet, honestly, you weren't missing anything - White Spot burgers are more of a classic BC experience (think White Castle style drive-in food, only North of the border, a Vancouver legend). I have placed stickers on the pole you are standing beside at 3:25, front of the Legislature. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Have a great trip.

The next time that you come to Canada and will be visiting Vancouver Island cross at Port Angeles. You will get to experience the beautiful Olympic Peninsula, and hopefullyOregon on the way up. A wonderful private ferry, with a soul, will unload right into the Victoria downtown harbour. Much nicer than the problem prone BC Ferries.

Victoria being in a Rain-shadow from the Olympic mount range across the water in Washington State has the least rainfall for the Pacific Northwest including Vancouver and Seattle , with only 24 inches a year this is near what is considered an semi arid climate, , But drive just 40 miles north the rainfall goes up to 54,7 inches a year at Sooke which is out of the Rain shadow

I have a question (for anyone who can answer)... we will be staying in Vancouver for 2 full days. I want to do the suspension bridge one day and Butchart Gardens another. We will have a car and I understand we need to take the ferry to Vancouver Island. Realistically, how much time will that take to get there? I was estimating 3 hours each way. My husband thinks it won't be worth it. Please help me prove him wrong... thank you!!
@OurFulltimeAdventure Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Depending on which port you ferry from it ranges from about an hour and a half to two hours. I hope this helps!

You need to factor in a 6-sailing wait ... on weekends and holidays. This summer the ferries seem to be having a cascade of mechanical problems and crew shortages leading to sudden cancellations and long waits. And people imploding in the parking lot .... ; )
@penelopepitstop762 Жыл бұрын
@@jasondrummond9451 thank you. We ended up deciding not to go to the gardens since it will take so long.
@jasondrummond9451 Жыл бұрын
Probably wise, with the ferry situation being what it is. Someday come back and see the gardens - they are beautiful. The place is even open at Christmas, when it is decorated with lights. @@penelopepitstop762

Thanks for sharing. QQ: Is the lower deck comfortable enough for dogs to stay in the car? I wonder if it would be too hot in summer.

Yes, absolutely. Maybe in the summer it would be warm but we went when it was a bit cooler!

Good video, thanks. Do you know the ferry across Vancouver Island schedule, and do I have to reserve the tickets ?
@OurFulltimeAdventure Жыл бұрын
We do not know the exacts schedule but they can be seen on the BCFerries site. Also I think you can pay when you get there but we paid online! We hope that helps!
@brentwoodbay Жыл бұрын
This time of year , barring breakdowns, they run every hour on the hour from 6 or 7am to 9 or 10pm. You can reserve, the closer to the time the more the cost. Probably a good idea this time of year!

Hi - I live in here in Victoria. There are three ferry routes to the island. The biggest one (and the one in the video) goes from Twaasseen -probably spelled it wrong- which is south of Vancouver to Swartz Bay. The ride is actually 1 hr 35 mins and it’s beautiful. The ferries are nice and modern, with food and drink options and great seating. Reservations are a must at this time of year. I just booked for Aug 8 returning Aug 9th and the total cost was $225. for two adults. Butchart Gardens is gorgeous! (As any garden over 100 years should be). Just taking the ferry to Butchart (about 15 mins from the ferry) or only for a day, would be a bit much, financially and physically. It would be a shame to come to the island and not visit Victoria. The other major ferry 😅route runs from West Vancr to Nanaimo, about 2 hrs north of Victoria. This route is also about 1.5 hrs. There is one more route, from Twaassen to Duke Point, which is just south of Nanaimo. One last point. It’s a provincial holiday here on Monday Aug 7 - BC Day! So be prepared for office closures, reduced store hours, maybe a parade or two, lots of park bar-b-ques, fireworks, concerts, etc. Not to mention huge waits for ferries if you don’t have a reservation. Welcome🇨🇦

Tons of pretty decent authentic Chinese here - next time try the ramen at Ghost, and tell them Brian’s dad sent ya. For fans of Tuscan style Italian, there’s Il Terrazzo (lower Johnson St Old Town) and Il Covo (Superior St near Fisherman’s Wharf).
