We did the same train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi a year and a half ago! It was a great experience, The only complaint we had is that the shower water never got warm! Our weather was quite the opposite though. Europe was having a heat wave, and the high temp in Rovaniemi was 88 degrees F! We slept so well on the train though, with the comfortable beds and air conditioning.
@AdventuresofAplusK7 ай бұрын

🙋🏻♀️🇫🇮🚅 Hi, guys! So sorry that you didn't get to sleep any better. On old-fashioned overnight trains one usually slept like a baby thanks to the even, steady thunk thunk every time the train went over a gap in the rails. By the way, you may be sure that the bedding is clean although it doesn't smell of any pleasantly smelling rinse. As you noticed, it didn't smell of anything at all. That's because the railway company takes into account that there are people who might be allergic to perfumes and all kinds of smells. For the same reason, you're not supposed to use perfume when going to a hospital or doctor's office.

@Gittas-tube4 күн бұрын
@@AdventuresofAplusK Hi guys! About using earplugs... I assume that you both carry your smartphones with you? Have you tried this: Put both phones on maximum sound volume, place the phones close to your heads, synchronize the alarm settings to alert you at the same time. That should be enough to wake you up - at least one of you even with the earplugs! (I hope!) I find that having soft earplugs with you and put them on in case you get a noisy hotel room, for instance, with unfamiliar sounds, is a very good idea.

You’re an arctic circle ! 😝
@Rinssi_from_Finland7 ай бұрын
You guys use two jackets? I mean -26°C is quite chilly but I would never use two jackets... Just thicker clothing and thicker jacket. It's not the multiple layers that keep you warm but the air between them. So wooly thick clothes under thick jacket is the way to go.
@AdventuresofAplusK7 ай бұрын
Hey we are noobs when it comes to cold weather 😂 but we had wool base layers on and the multiple jackets and felt just fine out in the cold 👍
@Rinssi_from_Finland7 ай бұрын
I think most people are 😅 The cold you get in Finland and especially in Lapland is very different from most places. I don't know if you've thought about it but sometimes less layers can be warmer. We talk about "kerrospukeutuminen" (layer dressing) in Finland and sometimes foreigners get that wrong and just pack themselves with clothes. But too much clothes can make the layers too dense and also squeeze your body hindering the bloodflow. Both of which make you colder. Your clothes shouldn't bee too tight fit. Especially your jacket. As I said earlier it's the air between layers that keep you warm. Too tight clothes squeeze the air out and you're left with just a thick clump of clothes that gets cold and eventually cools you down.
@Axelius697 ай бұрын
