As a clinical psychology doctoral student, I just wanted to let you know that there is plenty of empirical evidence to support the use of the Rorschach. It should be used to inform the assessor of thought processes and content, relation to self and others, and severe personality issues. It is not generally supported as a diagnostic tool, except in the case of thought disorder issues. Individual answers are typically not evaluated, but the information is taken as aggregate data. The answers are coded according to the RPAS system and then evaluated through computer software. When used properly it has a comparable validity to the MMPI-2 and other psych assessments.

Rebecca McCormic I'm also a doctoral student and would add that the interpretations given in the video are overly simplistic and in no way reflect the approach used by credentialed assessment psychologists. In addition to thought disorder, there is also established validity for RPAS measures of overall personality functioning, approach to problem solving, various aspects of interpersonal functioning, and perceptual accuracy. Among other real-world observables, it has shown an ability to predict likelihood of suicide attempts and response to antidepressant medications. From what I know, Rorschach cards are supposed to be super secret, otherwise it wouldn't be valid if someone who already saw the cards took the test.

Diva Ramitha I learned from the psych who tested me as well as my sister who got a degree in behavioral sciences that what you thought was not exactly true (since I also asked them whether seeing the cards beforehand would make the test invalid).I think because aside from the obvious “what do you see” aspect of it, the testers take down how you behave when you see the images, which part of the images you’re focusing at, etc.

If you ever heard the responses of a person with active psychosis, you would understand the value of this test despite its questionable psychometric properties. Sometimes responses to ambiguous stimuli can be revelatory in ways science cannot fully explain.

Hi, so the inkblots aren't actually supposed to be shown to the public because seeing the cards or hearing other responses can interfere with a person's "true" response when given the test in a clinical setting. Ideally, psychologists (like me) would like this video to be taken down. We recommend using Rorschach-like tests instead of the actual one. Thanks!

But being at such strict universities :/ i know that many countries still not accept homosexuality but it's still not understandable for me. When I try to do counselling with the psychologist of my universities, theh not only use Rorsach, they also asked "When you want to get married", "Are you sure don't want to get married soon after graduate", "Did you ever like boys?" (I am a girl btw).

Most of the test is by what you say being correlative to what is often or sometimes on your mind. Death being a common element might mean you think about death a lot. More animals than humans has social implications. That sort of way of thinking is why this test is accurate in some ways. In the fully-detailed personality part, it is a bit shaky because the way it does the personality testing is from an analysed sample of participants’ most common features that correlate to what the image “shows”.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video with the two gentlemen. I felt your genuine Loving spirits, and that was the height for me. I am a practicing Christian, who Loves my faith so naturally, at least for me, "naturally" all I could see what Cherubim and Seraphim Angels around the throne of God and in the colorful picture the beauty of Gods creation to include animals. I did see satan/the devil/a demonic dark spirt in the photo, one of the gentlemen saw as well and apologized to his parents (smile)! I am also a mental health counselor preparing for my NCE, which is what pretty much led me here as a part of research and study. Thank you for making this fun/loving video. Okay, so I was actually given a rorschach test - I'll omit the details and reasons why. As it was explained to me afterward, what you see in those inkblots isn't what matters. It's what you *don't see* that indicates a problem. So if several of the Rorschach Test images looks like some kind of flower, tree, or other plant to 90% of the people, but you don't see anything botanical in any of those images, that's a red flag that something's gone wrong. But the specific details of what you see don't really matter, only whether what you see falls into the one of the categories that most of the other people saw. In my case, I failed to see anything human whatsoever in every image designed to look like or have parts of blots that look like people or faces. That is actually one of the red flags designed into the Rorschach Test, I later learned. It indicates that the person who isn't seeing people in the people-shaped blots has become disconnected from other human beings. And a human mind that is totally disconnected from human interaction will start to fall apart.
