👍 Cool ride! I’m 51 and started reminiscing about racing my GT pro in the early 80s so I took to KZbin. Did not really know these big bikes were offered in retro bmx. Thought I was stuck to my mountain bike. Now trying to figure out which big bike I want to get to go cruise the old neighborhood. Actually called my old friend and he still has his original CW that he raced on. So he is tuning his up waiting for me to get some bmx wheels so we can cruise. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Just subscribed and been watching a lot of your older videos.

I always thought that the chain ring attached to the spider on the cranks for easy gearing changes and the sprocket was a one-piece-unit. Go figure. I've always loved GT. Is the crooked sprocket due to a mis-aligned bottom bracket while welding? That's concerning.🤔 Those yellow and black pedals look psychotic bro. You got me drooling for that Torker build! 🤪 With Kevin's Tender Tooshie, build-a-better seat thing, have you ever gone into a bike shop or checked on-line on how to measure yourself for the correct width, length and contour of seat, like you would do for a road bike or a gravel bike? You might end up with a seat made for Lance Armstrongs butt, but nobody will know because you'll be sitting on it. Here's to a Happy Hiney. 🤗
@TuesdaysTurn4 ай бұрын
People of different areas definitely interchange them, but I'm the same as you. A chainring/spider is two pieces, and a sprocket is one piece.
@cruisinginthe8083 ай бұрын
Thatʻs a really good point. Yeah, usually a sprocket is referred to something thatʻs just one piece. Maybe thatʻs how the chain ring came to be since it was separate? I have no idea.. Appreciate you guys always contributing to the discussions down here! The more ideas we get from different people, the better! Thanks guys! 🤙🏻

Watching it after I was done editing it also gave me that impression that the vibe was very positive in this ride. Not that we don’t have a good vibe when we ride but I think because we haven’t seen each other in awhile, this ride was more fun, catching up and hearing about his trip and reminiscing about past concerts. Thanks for always tuning in man! Appreciate you!! 🤙🏼

Really enjoyed the casual conversations in this video! Sounds like Bernie had an awesome birthday. I was in Colorado in early July, and while we didn’t visit Southpark, we got to eat at Casa Bonita which is owned by the Southpark guys. Good times. Not so good times, I also got a REALLY bad case of Covid later in July. It really put me through the wringer and I’m still not 100% back to myself. Got the brain fog a bit still, as a result I’ve had little motivation to make any videos or anything in the last month. But I’m working on a new one tonight. How cool that you’re gonna chat with Mike Miranda. Such a great guy. My wife rode a little ways with him at the Buckeye Bike Show ride out on my lavender Hollywood. He was calling her “Hollywood” later at the show because of bike. And yeah, it’s her bike now because she has so much fun riding it.. So yeah, tell Mike that “Hollywood” with the lavender Hutch says hi 🤣😎 Really looking forward to the Torker build 🙌

Yeah it was crazy to put in all that money into the project and not do all of the environmental studies to clear those hurdles. People were also upset thinking the boats would hit whales or dolphins. Funny how no one questions the barges that run back and forth each week though. Torker build starts this week so stay tuned! 🤙🏻

The tight/loose chain spots can be from several things. It's usually from a crooked sprocket / chainring. Those sprockets that come on cheap bikes are usually steel, and they are often crooked and complete junk. But yours should be an aluminum higher quality, but it could still be crooked. If you put it on a bike stand and take the chain off, get to the rear of the bike (like you're looking at the chainline) and spin the cranks, see if the chainring wobbles. If so, then you know something is crooked. It could also be a spacer issue. You know how some sprockets/spiders are drilled 24mm and you need that 22mm or 19mm insert for the spindle? If that is missing or the wrong size or on the wrong side, it will cause issues. It could also be the chain. It could also be the rear - a bent axle, bent cog, messed up freewheel teeth, etc. Now with all that said, it could also be something I've seen on two cheaper GTs - the bottom bracket shell was crooked, which is rare and terrible quality control, but I saw it on TWO different GT Pro Series, the cheap 29" ones that City Grounds was selling. Good luck figuring it out! AZ TRIP, hell yah! Free place to crash here with bikes and a pool, any time!

Love reminiscing about some of the concerts we’ve been to in our lives. Last Tuesday, my wife and I took our two daughters and their husbands to Sammy Hagar and Spokane. Even after all these years, it was epic! Really love that yellow bike. In your opinion, which is your favorite bike at this point? You’ve ridden several in the 26 inch class. I’m gonna pull the trigger and get a big boy BMX bike in a 26. Every time I look at them, there’s something about them that I’m not really impressed with. But I like the pro performer, but I’ll have to wait until they make it in a different color before ever buy it. There’s no way I could buy a bike that’s painted like cotton candy..lol you guys rock!
@cruisinginthe8083 ай бұрын
Thatʻs awesome! Thereʻs just something about live concerts that makes the whole experience that much better. The first concert my oldest daughter ever went to was Bruno Mars before he became this global superstar. He had just been out on that "wanna be a billionaire" song and I was like, this dude is GOOD! So when he came back home and did a few shows on Oahu, I took her and a friend to it. She was like in the 6th grade at the time and it was just a cool experience for us both to be in. Hope she remembers that concert long after Iʻm gone! Thanks for the kind words and for watching! As for as the best bikes Iʻve ridden, man thatʻs a hard one. I feel like the GT, whiie iconic in the past, is not the same now that itʻs just mass produced. The frame is heavy and I really think something is up with the bottom bracket or rear drop out. Iʻve seen two of the same bikes now with that chain problem. Iʻm not a mechanic though so I canʻt be sure. The Race Inc is a fun bike to ride and is made well but those funky wide dropouts and forks are a pain in the butt to deal with, especially if youʻre out on a ride and get a flat. The Supercross is nice but it does sit a little low which is affecting my knees a little. My most comfortable bike to ride is the 29" SE Monster Quad though. It just sits well, has disc brakes, and would be the one I pick for long rides for sure. Good luck in your quest to get a 26 and keep us posted on what you decide to go with! Thanks man! 🤙🏻

New sub here. Beautiful bikes really enjoying your channel. 45 years old getting back in, I ordered a 29 Throne! Want to ask you what cameras do you use for your content?
@cruisinginthe80820 күн бұрын
Welcome aboard! Thank you for subbing and stoked you are getting back on a BMX bike! To film rides, I will sometimes use either the Insta 360 X3, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, or the DJI Action 5 Pro, or a combination of any of them. For those shots that are directly back at us that can also swing to the side or front, that's from the X3, a 360 degree camera. It's useful in that you just mount it to the front of your bike and just leave it there. When you are done recording, you bring it back on their software and decide what direction you want the camera to point in. It has a camera on the front and back of it to capture 360 degrees and via the software, you determine the angle. It's an extra step in the editing process but so much easier to film rides that way as you don't have to hold anything. Just mount it to your bars and you're good. Thanks for the sub, the comment, and for watching! 🤙🏻

I'm 55 and planning to build 26" BMX bike. When I was 13, I got new chromoly / blue Kuwahara for Xmas '81. My father who split from my mom reminded me, "THIS IS MOST I'VE EVER SPENT ON A BICYCLE", just like "Old AF" dude said, "You knew somebody had a mom and dad if they had nice BMX parts" My Kuwahara was stolen later that summer. My Dad was pissed. He had me handing out "Have you Seen this Bike" flyers at BMX events. It was so embarassing. ......7 years later, police department in another city calls our house. They had my frame and forks! AND one their off duty officers delivered them to my house! They used Acid Etching to see serial number that had been filed down. This is why licensing your kids bikes is important. They could turn up again. Now you're wondering did I re-build my bike? Sorry, sold frame/fork for $275. Like my friends, we all got jobs so we could buy cars and customize them. Glad I found your channel. You guys keep a chill vibe here and it's awesome. Thank you.
