We went back during the week and took the commuter train. It was a journey to remember! Don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe.

Your video convinced me to make a return trip to Namanve upcoming april/may when I'm in Uganda! :). If you don't mind me asking, how long did the train stop at each "station" along the way? Like, do you think there is time to quickly jump out of the train to take a photo if the place and light is nice?

Thanks so much for letting us know, it’s great to know someone has been inspired to try it! It stops only for the time required for everyone to get on/off; as it leaves Kampala its very full, so we stood by an open window at the end of a carriage to be able to see out, but by the later stops it empties out a bit so moving around the carriage is easier and getting out as it stops to take a quick photo may be easier. For photos of the train from the outside Namanve station would be the best, it stops there for about 20 - 25mins, so you can get out and have plenty of time to get some nice photos (particularly as they maneuver the engine from one end to the other). Alternatively, you may be able to stand right by a door in order to jump out at the early stations and get some shots of everyone getting on/off, but not sure how the view would be from the door when the train is moving, early on when it’s full the police may insist the doors are shut whilst the train is in motion, whilst after it empties out the doors can be open as it moves. Hope this helps - of all the things to do during a day in Kampala the train was my favourite!

@@OutNdAbout Seeing this a bit late but thanks a lot for responding! Good to know some things before going there haha; I think I'll try to let the driver or conductor know before the ride, that I'm possibly jumping out for a second at some stops haha. Have a nice weekend!
