amazing if heart breaking - unsure why so many people viewed and didn't like - shows you can't rely on likes for quality viewing

Crazy stuff indeed. Been one of my heroes since the early plate tectonics days. His evidence was a lot more complex than the shapes of continents, even fitted with continental shelves also. It also included evidence of fossils on two continents, mountain chains continuing from one continents and jumping across 1000 miles of ocean and continuing on (Appalachians and Wales/Scotland etc.). As a geologist, perhaps the fossil evidence showing contiguity and providing crude dating was most vitally important. Geologists complained that he provided no mechanism of tectonic movement I knew he died on an expedition to Greenland. Thought he was looking mainly for more continental drift data. Had no idea that his work on meteorology was so key, much less that he was a noted arctic explorer. Magnificent exploration. This was absurd in my eyes, opened in the 1960s, he was outlining evidence of a fact. Proving that fact didn’t require understanding the process. Evidence did not exist then to explain the process.

thanks for this amazing documentary. Alfred is the perfect example of the openminded pionneer and seer who doesn't get discouraged by the eternal windmill-autorities who cannot recognice his genious because it would dethrone them.
