this. Dont mask the flavor with anything else. butter and maybe, and I mean MAYBE, have a leamon on the side to squirt on some on occasion, but thats it. Its best tasting its own flavor. Anything else lowers the experience.

No . Alaskan crab is overprice. Have you ever tried mud crab in Vietnam Mekong Delta. Tiny one compared to Alaskan , requires a lot of work to extract the meat but the flavor surpasses Alaskan one for 1/100 price. Those kind of food are for very wealthy people. Chef Daniel eats 3 pieces a day for breakfast, that 10 days salary in Vietnam average worker.

The chef took small bites and savored the flavor. The other guy just shoved in a mouthful, chewed it a bit and gulped it down. What a shame to pay so much for it and not take the time to enjoy every morsal, bite by bite. Unfortunately, that's what we Americans do. We are always eating fast and not enjoying our food. We are always on a time schedule and don't know how to be leisurely. Life is too short not to take time to enjoy every moment.

I was living in a rooming house after a bad relationship and had to leave immediately. I'm a mason and was working down the street from a fish mongerer in central mass. They were labeled Alaskan king crab legs frozen but only $7.99 a pound! I would buy two pounds and a pound of butter. Let me go back to the rooming house and my anger at the time. They would steal your toilet paper, lunch meat, what ever you had that was good! I would cook up 2 pounds in the community kitchen and watch one by one as they would come out of their rooms smelling them! Hahahaha 🤣 Of course they would beg, and grovel for one and I would laugh!!! Now you're spending that at McDonald's!!!

If you want to taste what real King Crab should taste like, get together with a few people and chip in to buy a whole live crab (they are very expensive even when in season). You can find them in large Asian seafood markets. You'll need someone with experience in cutting and cleaning the crab though. Frozen crab legs are pre-cooked at the processing factory and then immersed in a strong brine before being frozen. By the time it reaches the customer, the crab had already been "killed" twice, and that saltiness from the brine ruins the natural sweetness of the crab meat.
@ace8184
@ace8184 Жыл бұрын
no one can afford it, that is the problem. no one at all. prices are for the elite and wealthy, for such a minimal amount of food. crab shell is more than half of the weight, and therefore, more than half of the price. its too much money, period.
@msbrownbeast
@msbrownbeast Жыл бұрын
@@ace8184 Yes, it's very expensive but it's more like a delicacy than a meal. Don't expect to eat the crab meat like you eat a steak. It's meant to be shared among a group of people.
