Just did my first 100% keto haul today and I just wanna say you ladies saved me sooo much time and stress at the market. I bought mostly meat and veg with a few packs of whisps and some very dark chocolate. I didn't have to think so hard, because I already had so many meal ideas based off of your videos. It was a true blessing. Grocery shopping isn't my favorite thing by any means and when I was just in a research phase pre-keto, I was very nervous for some reason about actually shopping keto. You made it easy. Thank you so much. Bought some hearts of palm, the low carb tortillas and a bunch of other things you've mentioned. I am feeling so well prepared for my first few weeks. Gonna order my LMNT sample pack tonight. Great video, as always:)

Instead of "dry frying" riced cauliflower, I DEHYDRATED it and then used it in "stuffed peppers" and also in chix soup. It was very very close to cooked rice! No "smells" when opening the package, no weird textures (like the palmini), and already dry so you save time instead of having to do that step before each meal or recipe you want to use it in. ;) It's also much more economical! I just processed a 5lb bag of Green Giant Organic Riced Cauliflower that I bought at the Grocery Outlet for $6! I will be able to store ALL of it an a quart jar!!! You should try it. :D
@ketotwins2 жыл бұрын
Interesting idea! How did you dehydrate it?
@redhatpat93872 жыл бұрын
@@ketotwins I have a 4 tray Excalibur dehydrator. I spread the riced veg out over the mesh sheets and run the dehydrator at 125F - the suggested temp for veggies. It usually only takes a few hours. Once it's cooled off you store it in a glass jar (to keep moisture out) and rehydrate when needed. I don't have a measurement for how much rice to water because I have only used it in recipes that have plenty of liquid, but I imagine it would be similar to rice 1:3.
@gaylejideofor61982 жыл бұрын
Yup~ Im sticking with cauli. I have a box grater and two heads of cauliflower in my fridge. I just grate up what I want to use. Its dry, fresh and really inexpensive. I also make a sweet version; I cook the hell out of it plain with lots of butter and add almond milk- just enough to cover it, then sweetener and cinnamon for the breakfast rice dish... so yummy. When I was a kid this was my favorite way to eat left over rice, especially sticky-rice.

The difference in price isn't worth the 5 less calories. Don't get me wrong I love Palmini noodles. But for the rice I'll stick to cauliflower. I make fried rice, Spanish rice, and a butter and herb version with parmesan. So good.

I love cauliflower rice. I make it fresh and last night I sautéed it with hemp hearts, green scallions, mushrooms and almonds. I seasoned with a teaspoon of Better Than Bullion Vegetable paste. Yum! Lots of different ways to prepare it. Palmini rice is also good and absorbs flavor and sauces without going mushy.

Oh my gosh, I love fried rice so much! My dad is from Hawaii, my grandma was Japanese Hawaiian, so you can imagine there was a LOT of rice, in all forms, in my family. Knowing how to make some rice-like things for keto is so wonderful. Thank you for these informative comparisons. Are any of these ricey things sticky enough to make sushi? That could be a fun video. I don't miss much on keto, but I really do miss sushi. Your subscribers might like an independent endorsement for LMNT. I got the sample pack, thank you guys! I'm doing 18-6 OMAD, and the electrolyte packets are helping me feel much better during fasting. I use half a packet of the orange flavor in my early-morning orange spice herb tea before I go to my volunteer job walking dogs at the shelter. I really appreciate the bit of extra energy for running around with the puppers! When I get back mid-morning, I put the rest of the packet in my cup with more hot water for a second steeping. That easily gets me through till noon, when I get to have a small snack and start prepping my meal. Thank you two for all the inspiration and information. Oh, and congrats on the new space!

I like the pasta products from the great low carb company. I haven't tried the rice but I use the pastas all the time. what I do now is use one serving of their spaghetti or penne(boiled) then add one boiled egg to it(salt taste) and use it as the base for the viral noodle you guys made using the Keto asian flavors technique. It tastes amazing. plus that technique turns that 56g serving of pasta into a voluminous 500g of spaghetti!!! this is like 2 heaping servings from that handful of pasta. That technique is a game changer

It’s so nice to know there are options, but the OG works for me, too. In fact I was eating it with my dinner while I watched this! After dry-frying I added garlic pepper and butter and had it on the side with my brats dipped in SF BBQ/gochujang sauce. I’m SO FULL!!! I DO love these videos!!! I appreciate you ladies doing this for us, and I love the new digs!! Fabric curtains or a table cloth (just fabric in general) will tone down the echo, and if you can find the block-out curtains lined with thin foam, even better. You don’t have to close them, just hang them up and they will absorb alot of sound!

The orzo replacement would probably be great with Middle Eastern flavors: feta, preserved lemon, cherry tomatoes, etc. My issue would be overeating/portion size , or too much fiber - some types of fiber (dextrin comes to mind) just wreck my guts for a day.

I like to mix the products. The shirataki is too much fiber for my system so I like to mix it half and half with cauliflower or hearts of palm. Great video, I love hearing what different products taste like to get an idea if I want to try them. It is so interesting how different brands of the same thing or different things of the same brand can make such a big difference in flavor/texture/etc. I liked palmini lasagna sheets, so I bought the palmini mash. I didn't like the mash at all even though it is the same base product and the same company. On the flip side it seems like you could try 10 different brands of shiratake noodles and have 20 different responses. I have only had one and I liked it, so I bought some others which were a different brand, but I have been scared to try them because of so many bad comments from others about smell and all of that. Maybe you could compare some of the same things from different brands such as the noodles?
