Mmmmmm! Great choices and new discoveries for the list!! I am all for sacrificing my thighs for chocolates and caramels. My favorite is Debauve and Gallais. Very pricey but yummy and the shop is beautiful. Just like you say, a jewelry store. But, hmmm I don't ever remember seeing caramels... Further afield in Versailles is Au Roi Soleil. My mother in law used to send us a lovely box of these delights for all occasions. Oh, you have to visit them!! Praline to die for!!

I'm a huge fan of Bernachon chocolate, and I tried Le Roux when I was last in Paris in October 2023 but I've gotta say, there's a little chocolatier in Cahors (46) called l'Eclat du Noir which is easily the equal of anything I've found in Paris, or anywhere else for that matter. (Genin still makes my favourite caramels though!) Thanks for the great videos!
@emilyg9057 Жыл бұрын
Went to Jacques Genin close to Bon Marche. I bought a small tin of dark chocolate, tin of pates de fruit and a small bag of the caramels. Soooooo good! They took their time packaging the chocolates, too. The experience was amazing! Like the cartier of chocolates haha

I stopped at Jacques Genin based on the recommendation of David Lebowitz and I have to say those caramels are one of the best things I've ever eaten. Sometimes when I dream of returning to Paris, I really just dream of Genin's Caramel Au Beurre Sale and great Butter. I am hoping to try some of your wonderful 'food' recommendations on my next visit. Last visit was more pastries and chocolate than actual food. 😆

If possible, I would like a lesson on how to eat gourmet chocolates. One often sees lessons on how to appreciate a good chocolate bar, or how to go about appreciating the colour, scent, and tastes - both dominant and secondary notes of wines or whiskeys. However, I have never seen such a video for filled truffles, bon bons, nor chocolate covered items like ganache, pralines, fruit rinds, marshmallows, etc. How does one ensure that one makes the best sensory experience for oneself - something that will help one remember?
