Surprise surprise, the high end option didn't include anything past an XL. While Forever 21 has plus items, it's limited to certain items (mainly shirt-like iteams), that are not nearly as diverse in style or color. So as inspirating as the video is, I won't be purchasing anything from either of the stores for thoses reasons.

As a lingerie enthusiast I have a few issues with this. First, buy lingerie for your given purpose. Don't buy a boudoir bra (for example, the cage bra) and expect it to perform well for all day, daily wear. Second, those are not "high end". At $60 per bra, they're on par with mainstream companies like Victoria's Secret. If you truly wanted high end, you would be looking at brands like Carine Gilson, Agent Provacateur, Fleur of England, Bordelle, Adina Reay, or even La Perla would be better. Thistle and Spire are mid-range bras. Thistle and Spire is better quality than Forever 21, but by no stretch of the mind are they "high end". Lastly, always buy lingerie for yourself. Not for a partner, not so you can try to create a sexy character, and not because a salesperson tries to sell you their version of "sexy". You'll always be uncomfortable or feel like you're trying to be someone you aren't otherwise. It can be sports bras and lounge wear, it can be a bodysuit, it can be corsets, it can be bondage-inspired harnesses, or latex, or as many ruffles as humanly possible. Lingerie is definitely for yourself - it is something that nobody except you needs to know you have, it's a way to feel put together and cute even when you have to be in uniform or can't dress how you want to. It's underwear, loungewear, and for the daring, outerwear, too.

AffinityOfTime you can absolutely buy lingerie for a partner. If it makes you uncomfortable obviously don’t do it but there’s nothing wrong with putting something sexy in for your partner. Also clearly they were using the term “high end” to differentiate between the two. I’m sure they’re well aware that there is much more expensive lingerie out there

I prefer a bralette or even a wired sports bra to a regular bra. I'm a 46 D which is not way out there but I hate bra shopping. I go to Torrid for all my bras now, except maybe a sports bra for just being around my house (I live with my dad and brother). Unless I'm paying for clearance bras I'm spending at the least $40. I'm envious of a friend who is at a 38/40 C because she can find decently fitting bras at reasonable prices.

@Tanya I’m a DD and I find Aerie had the best bralettes for support and comfort and price. Though, you have to know what cuts and style fit for you. Unfortunately that means trying them on until you have a good idea what’s going to support you. When it comes to little triangle bralettes, if the band is thicker, cups aren’t demi cut, and fully adjustable straps, they are flattering on me.

I wish they tried actual high end brands like Agent Provocateur etc! Also, while it’s great to have less pricey and accessible lingerie, a lot of it is made really unethically. Fast fashion brands often steal designs from independent designers, which is why many lingerie enthusiasts don’t by their intimates from fast fashion companies. Maybe if they re did this with the high end brands or some independent, ethically made brands? Which can also be either high end, or mid range. One thing I really liked about this video tho was the girls learning to enjoy lingerie for themselves! And incorporating it into their outer wear a bit

I'm just mad at fast fashion in general right now. It's not just because I'm bitter about it being the reason Dress Barn is closing for good. It works fine for people who are relatively skinny. At the moment I'm borderline plus sized and I like to order specific things several sizes larger than my actual size. Fast fashion is not often kind to plus sized sized. They make them bigger, but they fit funny. That or they completely fall apart when you stick them in the washer and dryer. And it's personally just not a good look on me. The worst by far is fast fashion jeans. You wash them once or twice and then as soon as you bend the wrong way they suddenly rip in the upper inner thigh. I despise it. So much. Forget Gucci because I'm not that rich, but I want quality stuff that'll last me years. I'll save more money in the long run. Fast fashion is why we have to buy new clothes every year. Heck, fast fashion is why my shoe suddenly broke two years ago, causing me to fall down the stairs and break my left arm. I've also broken toes and sprained both ankles multiple times from fast fashion shoes (I was a teen at the time who relied on my wonderful but broke mother to buy me clothes).

There's great diversity in the world, so I have to politely disagree with you that the people who spend that amount on clothes can only fall into at least one of two categories. There are many people who have to scrounge and save up to buy bras at this price point, simply because it’s their only option. Fast fashion brands don’t cater to those with large or full busts. Even if they did, a $10 bra can’t offer the proper structure and support that those with larger band and cup size require. Generally bras around the $60+ price point last longer as well, so much so that in the long run the cost per wear is cheaper then fast-fashion alternatives. I also have to hold true to my first statement on this video: the use of the term ‘high-end’ in this context is erroneous. To be able to create a garment that is considered truly ‘high-end’ involves years of study and experience. It involves implementing laborious, time consuming and intricate techniques. Sadly society doesn’t seem to value this skill set. To add to that, you don’t need to be ‘rolling in dough’ to understand there is a distinction between these three tiers. There is absolutely no shame in understanding and appreciating the work another human being has devoted and dictated part of their life to mastering. Mislabeling things this way is an attempt to deny it of it’s value, in my own opinion. I’d be interested to hear any further thoughts you have on this.

I was bummed not to see brans like La Perla. That's prime fancy lingerie. I can only stare in awe. Thistle and Spire is cheaper than brands like True & Co. and ThirdLove, which are just semi-specialized bra stores. I agree with you there. But honestly it’s a struggle to get myself to wear nice clothes in the first place, so sometimes the classiest thing I’m wearing is a well made bra. It’s like that meme of a girl texting her friends, “are we dressing cute or homeless?” Dressing cute, even if it’s just underneath my clothes, takes so much effort. Why can’t pajamas be acceptable work attire?

@@the_epicfangirl You just need to find nice clothes that feel like pajamas 😁 it's how I get through work days myself ! Simple things that all go well with each other and do not take much effort at all. The only thing to focus on is to feel good about yourself anyway and nice underwear definitely does that for me under any clothes, comfort and style shouldalways go together.

Good for you! I’ll keep your advice in mind. Most of my clothes are now to big for me as I unexpectedly lost weight, nothing bad I just exercise a lot more, snack a lot less, and I’m on my feet a lot with my job, so I lost weight without realizing or trying. So now I’m slowly trying to replenish my wardrobe with clothes that actually fit, like pants that I don’t have to pull up all the time.

Eating pizza while wearing lingerie - YESSSSS!!! Comfort over everything for me regardless of the price point. Don’t just buy it and wear it because it was cheap if it is uncomfortable.

I've never been inside a Forever 21 before. My parents raised me to believe that it as well as Clair's is trash not to waste my money on. They told me they'd much rather see me sneak into the back area of a Spencer's (which I didn't understand what was in the back until I was older. Still have never been in the back). I also wasn't allowed in Spencer's at all while I was still a minor. I'm still fairly new into the now 18+ years zone, so I haven't been in one yet. I'm still getting over being allowed to watch whatever I want without having to ask permission (The exception being that I'm forbidden to watch porn while I still live under my mother's roof. Didn't want to anyways.).
