We want to find out who the fastest KZbinr is. We’ve got a track, a car and a series of Gran Turismo style challenges.
Today we’ve got Mat Armstrong and Super GT. We were meant to have Alex Kersten with us, but he bailed last minute. So we had to get a substitute.
Each driver will need to complete 3 challenges and then finally do a lap of the track. We’re calling them the ‘Driven Media Licence Tests’.
Our Pro Driver, Scott, has a set a benchmark on each of these. He’ll go out with each KZbinr for 15 minutes beforehand for tuition and to learn the track.
This is the car. And it’s not reasonably priced - it’s a race car.
It’s a Caterham 420R - so 210 horsepower and just over 600 kilos in weight. It’s a proper race car for the road, no stability control, no traction control and semi slick tyres. It’s a handful.
That’s why Scott is going to be in the car, just to make sure these KZbinrs don’t bin it.

The fact that Scott (a retired racing driver) can do one second faster on each challenge is phenomenal. Especially the corner. Imagine saving one second on each corner at a race track. Just proves how bad most people (including me) are at track driving when compared to proper racers.

Aaand in the follow up to this episode. Make the cabin totally blacked out. Instead of windshield u put a monitor Infront of the driver. And on that monitor the driver get a new view on every lap. In 3 laps u got these views. Lap 1, above. Lap 2, third person view (as this episode). Lap 3, spectators view, cameras placed around the track. That would he interesting 😁 Good luck.

Total confusion: The name Alex is mentioned as scoring points as is Scott, but they seem to be the same person? And at 14:13 Super GT's final score was 118.8 not 129.6, and Mat's was 129.6 not 118.6. Nevertheless both Super GT and Mat as non-professional drivers did great jobs against Scott who is a professional with many years of IRL experience. This could have been so much more organised, with Scott's role as the professional limited to setting benchmarks but being precluded from the podium, and many other really good Sim racers invited for the event. 'Super GT', Mat, Jimmy Broadbent, 'Jardier', 'Eeerriess', Dave Cam, Basic Ollie, Aidan Millward, Tidgney, SimRacing604 & Dan Suzuki to name but a few....
