make sure to paint some test patches of your paint by the brick sections so you can tell if it goes well with the colour of the bricks.

Also, judge the color in the light you'll see it in. Your lamps for building are probably much cooler than the ones you will install in the room

Also a quick tip, when you go to test your colors. Paint them onto something other than the wall, become it's a pain to cover and the edges will show through the next coats. I use either cardboard, big pieces of white paper, or anything that you can hold up to or tape to the wall temporarily to see what colors are best. I also highly recommend any kind of greyish colors because they match everything. Appliances, furniture, ect, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I love to help. Good luck guys. Oh and PS.... ALWAYS prime the sheetrock first. Use flat paints on the ceiling and use eggshell or satin on the walls. Never use any glass, it shows every imperfections. Also you can rent a hopper and do a texture on the walls to help solve that issue. But you did work your butts off getting it super smooth. But for future reference, maybe? Lol And just incase you didn't see my other comment, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND spraying the piant. Do the walls first, tape the edges, let the plastic cover the first 5 or 6 feet of the walls for over spray and then you're good to spray the ceilings. Best of luck guys, be safe and take pride knowing that you've already accomplished what 75% of the people in the world wouldn't even attempt. So well done 👏 👏 👏 👏 Bravo and hats off to you 2. God bless

I was thinking this watching, those test areas on the wall are going to be a real pain in the ass when it comes to painting over them. And yeah, primer is an absolute must, I'm sure he will do it.

Great update! It's been such a pleasure to watch this and I hang on for each update. I'm curious whether you considered cutting a small channel into the bricks so you could then slot a piece of dry wall corner into the channel. I guess there might be some structural risk to cutting into the bricks but i'd have thought a shallow groove might have worked.

If I could recommend anything from my failures, it would be to make a clear material- and color palett to have a clear strategy on floor material, wall color, cabinet surface and wood choices. Certain wood complements certain colors and materials and helps bring everything together.

21:00 you can find (or create) a large round tracing washer with a hole in it, so the outer diameter will "soften" the profile detail as much as you need it to, and the inner diameter is the distance you need from the wall to make the trim piece fit flush with the finished wall. Just use a pencil and hold the washer against the trim while you roll the washer to trace the softened profile.

I'm a fan for neutral white or an 'eggshell' off white. On camera, with my colour display, per YT compression, Soft still looks too yellow for me but never living in Northern Europe, you may value a cheery yellow and like yellow as a colour. Choose the colour that works best for your needs.

After living in Michigan through overcast dreary weather 300+ days a year, we chose a scrubbable off-white with peachy notes, and used it on walls and ceiling. This really helps in the depths of winter. You do have plenty of windows, great for natural light, as well as recessed lighting. We subsequently chose to live near Los Angeles, where we have 330+ days of sunny weather a year, but also kept using the scrubbable peachy paint, also walls & ceiling..

for the paint: I would choose one of the browner colours for the walls and the colour between the brown ones as ceiling colour or for colourful accents on the wall. The lighter colour for the ceiling would make the room look higher as you probably already know. Maybe even consider a stripe of ceiling colour on the walls. If the stripe is connected to the ceiling the effect of room height is increased that way.

You guys are so brave. I've done drywall in one (1) 5 meter x 5 meter room, and will never go near that ever again. It took us about a week, too. We hired expert drywallers to do a stairwell and another 5m x 5m room, which they finished altogether in about 10 hours total. We're contemplating drywalling over the insulated walls and ceiling of our garage to increase light there. We wouldn't even consider doing it ourselves.

First I hope you use primer, as it will save you in the long run. Second, the yellowy colour will brighten up the room nicely and make it seem cosier, BUT the white will make better contrast with the brick, so think about what you'd prefer. Oh, also, the yellow will seem even more yellow with artificial lights turned on, so be prepared for that. Lastly, I love your videos and I've really enjoyed watching the progress on the apartment. Thank you for giving us hours of entertainment and information!

That part about the yellow looking even more yellow under incandescent light I knew was a thing, but I thought it was less of an issue with LED lighting. Is there any truth to this or have general LED lighting a color spectrum similar enough to incandescent now that you can treat it the same? Wide spectrum LED bulbs used to be pretty darned expensive a few years back.

Avoid low dust drywall mud, it does not feather well at all. Tape with taping compound and finish with finishing compound, it feathers beautifully and makes life better. A corner sanding sponge and a ~ 4" x 8" sanding sponge for finishing also help a great deal.

When you tape joints, always smooth starting in the middle working both directions. You'll have a much easier time with the tape not shifting around or folding over on itself. When mudding, the general rule is to remove almost all of the mud you put on the wall. It's much easier to apply one more coat of mud than it is to sand off excess mud. Also, when wiping excess mud off of a surface, always wipe in the direction of the tape (parallel). Wiping the mud sideways (perpendicular) runs the risk of shifting the tape or tearing the paper. Edit: Also, smooth finish walls are the hardest to achieve. You see literally every imperfection. Typically, a light orange peel or knockdown texture are much more forgiving for misc. imperfections in the joints.

Looks great... just WOW... yes, it is messy... but the end results will be fabulous! It is really nice you got those tools to do make the work go easier. As for the paint, check it at different times of the day/night, next to the bricks, etc. Also consider if you want something bright or want something relaxing and less stimulating... what about the furniture? Neutral colors help with décor you might want modern furniture since you like the frameless clean lines... I'm not a interior designer, but my process for my home, I too like the clean lines and I painted my walls a "Linen White" that's an off-white, kind of tinted a yellow cream color... not sure you have it there, I got mine at Home Depot in the U.S.... Maybe it's the same color as what you have on the walls now? but check it out, maybe you'll like that?

Never done it using those tools. I've used glasfiber weave over the joints and wide scrapers to mud over it. Don't know that this looks to be all that much easier or faster. Perhaps it's a lot faster with enough training. I guess the same can be said for the old fashioned way of doing it, so... Not really an expert through as I've only done it a few times. I remember the first time to be real messy, but I had people who knew their thing show me the tricks hands on. So that's a leg up on you who had to learn only using videos and some brief advise. The corner though. That was pretty slick! While the large flat areas are easy to work on the corners can be a pain. Anything that helps with those is a blessing...
