I’ve done this “trick” for the last 15+ years of renting hotel rooms, but I find it works even better outside of Vegas -especially ski resort towns. Last time I did this in Mammoth, we ended up with a nice room upgrade, 4 breakfast vouchers ($80+ value), and 6 bar drink vouchers $90 value). I just present the cash as a direct tip though.

I’ve been doing the $20 dollar trick for years at different hotels in Vegas, works every time! Last visit they gave me the executive suite at the Venetian 😂 $2500 room

The $20 trick usually works on weekdays or when Vegas is not super busy. During busy times it is not always possible to get an upgrade.

Actually I can work for free I was at the Wynn last year and asked him for the best room possible for our first time and we got the third floor from the very top was amazing view amazing room great experience!

U still pay for the room they give you...I knw several who tried this including my husband. They make $20 to upgrade you for a more expensive room and bill

I stayed at Luxor and paid $50 for the tip to get the upgrade (I paid $50 because I was there with my partner for our 5 year anniversary). They had nothing available so I was told to come back the next day. I came back next day and the manager guy came out and told me that there's no such thing as a complimentary upgrade and gave me an attitude. They took my $50 and I was given nothing. It's a pure scam.

Well I have traveled for business to Vegas for over 24 years you are wrong, when they have rooms to give even if you ask they don't, when inhave tipped 40 bucks rooms are available me and colleagues have TESTED this for years where they tell my buddy no then I go next and pay the " tip " and they give me an upgrade. So no idea what your talking about. Why do let you learn how hospitality works and don't be so naive, Haha for you to even argue these facts is ridiculous.
